2ND SEAT CURSE
Much talk has been made of the second redbull sit and why it's been difficult for the driver whose not Max to really make a difference.
Red Bull has had a build philosophy since 2009. Build a front axle weapon that bites hard on entry and dares you to rotate it on a knife edge rear. The RB5 gave insanely impressive Vettel that magic sharp front end, alive rear and he made it sing for 4 titles. Fast forward, same DNA lives in Max's cars.
Max wants max front grip, super responsive steering and can tame the oversteer like no one else. Teammates step in and the car feels nervous, unpredictable, lacking that planted confidence. Pérez, Gasly, Albon, Lawson, Tsunoda... all talented, all struggled. Not just pressure the car is tuned to one genius feel.
Newey era Red Bull had always rewarded the driver who can drive it on the front axle. Aggressive rotation, late braking, total trust. Max has it in spades. Others? They chase balance that the philosophy doesn't naturally give. It's brilliant for winning with a superstar. Tough for building a duo.
As long as that Redbull philosophy still keeps track on aero and now engine design, any driver that can't feel and drive on the extremes of front axle will always have a grave problem. Max found this the hard way from 2016 - 2018 before he had grasped the front axle driving.
It's not a Max problem, it's the deep rooted Philosophy 🤝🏿

Albon una vez lo explicó clarito. Es más o menos así:
a. RB inicialmente hace un auto de manejo más o menos neutro.
b. Max es un excelente piloto que te saca 3 o 4 décimas con ese auto inicial.
c. Max es MUCHO más eficiente con autos increíblemente reactivos de adelante. Nadie (y nadie es NADIE) puede manejar como él un auto con ese balance.
d. Con el correr de las evoluciones, van haciendo al auto más y más reactivo, como a Max le gusta.
e. Max en cada evolución es cada vez más rápido.
f. Su coequiper no puede manejar un auto con ese balance y va cada vez más lento y con cada vez menos confianza porque el auto se torna indomable.
g. Pobre Isack (y Yuki, y Lawson, y Checo, y Gasly, y Albon, y Daniel)
