@egoistanu @achrins It's always touched me that Rin is one of the youngest in bllk. He has so much more growing yet to do, so much to learn. I hope he can learn the right lessons and not just 'I need to get MORE obsessed with Isagi!!! Nii-chan, I will kill you!!!'

Rin definitely plays Minecraft on hardcore mode, right? Like he's gonna live with his life on the line the whole time. In fact, scratch just hardcore, what if he played UHC? And even playing UHC he continuously forgets to stock up on gapples, regen pots and totems 😭

@egoistanu @achrins I cannot understand how anyone will be happy if this is the outcome. There is SO MUCH potential for Rin's arc to be amazing, and if knsr squanders it for Isagi-centricism and yaoi bait, I'll be so disappointed

@achrins @egoistanu I'm honestly so sad that the Rin and Nanase stuff was completely abandoned, and it seemed to just be a plot device to get Nanase into the top 23 for that shocking Nagi reveal. I feel similarly abt Shidou. He and Rin's dynamic has been pretty much abandoned too. It's such a shame

@fae_fair @egoistanu YES! but I just have a feeling that the shot will make it & we'll get the same rin FOR THREE WHOLE ARCS THE SAME no development. It's shocking how knsr can't write rin Rin's dynamic with nanase WAS SO GOOD. Hell if nagi and rin became rivals or just more dynamics without ISAGI

@achrins @egoistanu This is why I'm REALLY hoping this twin shot fails. Isagi and Rin being 'destined' ends up becoming the conduit of their failure, and it puts Rin's stagnation on full display. And after Rin's poor performance all match, he has to either change or be left behind

@fae_fair @egoistanu His character development is still as WATER. the same cardboard cut out from the start. Knsr for the life of him can't make rin have development, OR OTHER RIVALS. Rin doesn't grow, doesn't develop, and doesn't even have relationships that knsr actually explores

@achrins @egoistanu It's getting ridiculous atp just how little Rin has changed, especially if the ultimate ending of his arc IS meant to have him still have Isagi as his ultimate rival and Sae playing with him again as his ideal passer. The narrative will just reward him NOT developing :/

@egoistanu @fae_fair He keeps the same goals for rin EVERY SINGLE TIME, in the U20 match RIN MONOLOGUE WAS BASICALLY SAYING THAT 'I don't need sae/isagi' BUT NO. RIN'S STILL OBSESSED ABOUT THEM

@egoistanu Yes exactly! He could be SO much more than this, and if knsr ISN’T trying to make it obvious that Rin’s current state is terrible for him, then I have literally no clue what the point of Rin’s character even is anymore

@hinatasdream Witch Hat is ultimately a story of hope so I am REALLY hoping that by the end of the series, orufrey will be happily married, and arkco can be together without the allegorical homophobia demons getting to them (representing the new generation living in a more accepting world)

@fae_fair this makes sense. the way the author adapts our world’s problems to hers is always interesting, maybe the olly-qifrey one wasn’t as much on the nose as the others, so it slipped past my radar. I hope we get something alike with coco and agott, I’d love to see a romantic storyline

It does make me wonder though, since there are even more explicit queer characters, what’s so different about olly and qifrey to not make them so. maybe if the whole tree situation with qifrey gets resolved she’ll be able to show it even more clearly

@hinatasdream Same thing applies to Qif and Olly. In-universe the thing that stops them is the tree. Allegorically the tree can represent the repression of queerness in a homophobic world

@hinatasdream I think it’s allegory. While Galga and Atwert *are* explicitly gay, their subplot seems to be criticising the fact that gay couples cannot marry in many countries and have to use ‘adoption’ as a workaround. It’s a reflection of our world, even if in-universe things seem ‘fine’
