And it’s the biggest one ever for Icelandic Club Football! This is the stuff dreams are made of: a Playoff match against @paofc_ in the @Conf_League for a chance at the R16 and a clash against 2x Finalist Fiorentina or SK Rapid Wien.
This game represents so much to me… so many unforgettable memories, so many friends for life made along the way in all these years supporting @vikingurfc
From the first game in the Pepsi Max Deildin I attended a decade ago (1x0 last second win against IBV), I knew that Víkingur had become the love of my life. I just felt it instantly. The team helped me gain some notoriety in Iceland and I even made some headlines because of my passion for this club.
I tried to make the team more famous worldwide with some cameos in the Robert Ingi Douglas and Þorsteinn Bachmann YouTube project called Island of Football (youtu.be/nsx4yhWeIf0?si…) when the club was struggling to get some wins and stay in the Top Flight.
I also had a column in the Leikdagur Vikes magazine teaching fans some Brazilian and Italian football expressions and words. But the highlight of this journey has to be when I became the first Víkingur Social Media Manager while living in Iceland (job today brilliantly done by my great friend @horduragustsson). I doubt something will ever top this achievement in my life.
So this game today is so much more than just a game. It’s the epic climax in what has been a life changing and defining experience.
With all that being said, I just hope we can get a win today. And as always, ÁFRAM VÍKINGUR! Áfram EUROVIKES!
