Xbox weakened as a direct console competitor and moved toward Game Pass multiplatform publishing. That gives Sony more room to control its platform. This isn’t just a disc debate or only a Sony issue. Apple, consoles, app stores, subscriptions.. this is the whole digital market now. But sure, “i have no idea” 😆 Have a good one.

@KtmKostas I don’t think physical media will disappear completely. Sony is a company, not a person. They’ll study the market, take risks and follow where the industry is moving. Nostalgia alone can’t drive business decisions.

@faidonsol I agree that we need to gain the rights you mentioned, and now is our chance to demand them. But like you said, physical media hasn't vanished for music and movies. Why should we let it happen to video games?

Physical doesn’t have to disappear, vinyl, CD, cassettes and Blu-rays proved that nothing really dies, it just becomes more niche. But the mainstream already moved digital. The real fight is better digital ownership rights, refunds, preservation and fair pricing, while keeping options alive.

@faidonsol However, if I lose access to my account, the disc will still give me access to the game on my new account. I don't play just to have my trophies recorded somewhere. I play to have fun.

Once Sony does this they control the market on their platform, and there will be no incentive to adjust prices, run sales, etc. Pc is an open ecosystem, better sales and GOG grants ownership on all purchases. It’s not about discs.
