Jamaica’s voter turnout continues to raise concern. According to official figures from the @ecjamaica, only 39.5% of the country’s 2,077,799 registered voters cast their ballots in the 2025 General Election, just 819,749 people. The figures also showed that only 21% of voters under 30 exercised their right to vote, highlighting growing disengagement among young Jamaicans. The conversation around voter apathy resurfaced after Chief Justice Bryan Sykes challenged the Electoral Office of Jamaica to explore measures to boost participation. However, Director of Elections Glasspole Brown says any major changes to make voting more accessible would have to come through Parliament. #Jamaica #JamaicaObserver #Election2025 #VoterTurnout #ECJ
