Vance is obviously Trump's successor. Trump's movement is two things mashed together: 1) a cult of personality, and 2) an ideology of reactionary xenophobia.
Vance doesn't appeal to (1), but he's the only major politician who appeals to (2). Thus he is the successor.

@Noahpinion That is just soul crushing. I went to the store yesterday and spotted my mom's car in the parking lot, so I sent my two kids, ages 7 and 9, to find her and give her hugs. She was just grocery shopping, age 72, and her two grandsons appeared and gave her hugs. Family matters.
