Tonight my son was ordained a missionary to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in the South Carolina, Columbia Mission. We are so proud of him & his desire to serve the Lord. What a blessing the next 2 yrs will be. “God is my strength and power and He makeup my way perfect” 2 Sam 33:22

6 SIGNS OF A HIGHLY INTELLIGENT PERSON: 1. Intelligent people usually have fewer friends than average. The smarter you are, the more selective you become about who you keep close.

Another famous trap, but a tricky one! Black to move. Can you find it? 🤔

The Bad News Bears turns 50 today. This movie zigged where most kid-sports films zag: cynical, un-Disneyfied, a gritty 1970s antidote to the usual underdog uplift. And Walter Matthau never once feels like he’s “acting with kids.”

@LokkeHeiss @TheStingisBack That’s an interesting thought. Basehart certainly had the voice and acting range, but I don’t think he had the necessary imposing physical build

@TheStingisBack Ray Bradbury wrote the screenplay and I think he did a great job trying to adapt a difficult novel. Opinions are very divided about Peck… personally I would’ve rather seen Basehart play Ahab, but of course Peck was a bigger star in the time the film was made.

Gregory Peck was born on this day in 1916. Moby Dick (1956) is a gloriously strange film. Peck famously hated his Captain Ahab, so much so that he blocked Spielberg from using a clip in Jaws, calling it “painful.” Still a blast for Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan fans, though.

The exchange between Japan and America continues. Until now, there have been some posts that have been quite depressing on my timeline, but thanks to this, I feel uplifted! Also, just recently, I received messages from clearly fake accounts and overly friendly messages, but I really appreciate the messages from real people!🙌🤗 Come to think of it, I dyed my hair last night!😄 Please stay safe, everyone. Don’t forget to buckle up!🙏🍀 And I hope you have a blessed day.🤗🫶🌸👋

@EugenePerel Thank you so much! I will buy a copy. I played chess when I was young and I’m picking it up again in my dotage. It was so long ago when I played this, it was then called the Cutty Sark attack

@DannyDrinksWine A gem ! Here is my hommage to this masterpiece with my personal little montage (3'19). I added an extra musical score, Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Archora ouverture... So... sound on ! 😉🎞️

2009 Prisoner mini-series remake, an ITV/AMC co-production. It had stated aims of paying homage to the original 60s show without being derivative; capture the spirit of the original but looking at 21st century contemporary society. I gave it a recent rewatch. A few thoughts. 1/

Mary Morris: “We took quite a long time over the beach scene. It was tricky getting us in the right light. In the end, we used lamps because the sun had gone just too far down.”
