25k hand update! +$60k and running $20k above ev 📈 Wild last 5k hands or so since my previous big update at 20k. Swingy was the theme but ran good when it mattered and still feel like we are playing well. Spent way too many hours looking at preflop sims for ante & adjusting based on rake. One mistake i was making was not adding enough “linear hands” to the sb 3b. While i was finding the polar ones, i was not including stuff like KQs. Which i guess we just 3 bet vs co/btn because we snap call off the jam! Good to know. It was a bit of a mindset shift because growing up playing live, 3 betting linear prints, so i’ve always done it. So when adjusting to the more polar range that this format calls for, i might have taken it a bit too far in such cases. I got scared to 3 bet hands i would be annoyed if facing 4 bet jam. While just 3 betting hands that i don’t really care to fold when getting jammed on. Unfortunately ranges don’t work in such a elementary way, and we still need to find the mixes that are still “annoyed” when we get shoved on. I do notice that i tend to usually have tougher time playing earlier in the day (between 12-6pm) and have fared much better in evenings (9pm-4am) Might be to do with the pool being different or could just be variance. Who even knows. Either way, head down graph up. Another update at 30k! Here we go.

Wanna say 2010-2013 ish I’m making instructional videos for PokerVT about my main game at the time (low stakes SNGs). Got invited to a private cash game to be recorded for future content with other instructors who were all far more accomplished and better players than me: @PearlJammed, @tsarrast, and @RealKidPoker. To the surprise of absolutely no one, I got crushed. Later that night, there was a party at Daniel’s house. I somehow got invited to that too. Probably out of sympathy if I’m being completely honest. Immediately, Daniel showed me around. Really gracious of him because I’m effectively a nobody and this is a party he’s hosting with his friends. I remember people playing backgammon, in the corner was one of those stand up arcade games, and his house had two ovens. First time I’d ever seen something like that. Baller shit. At some point, Daniel asked about SNGs and if he could watch me play a few games. Daniel Negreanu wants to watch ME play poker? I’d be honored. He showed me to his office where I logged on to PokerStars and loaded my speciality, 9-max turbo SNGs. I was so proud. He watched me for a few minutes, until he grew bored of my nitty style. Said something along the lines of “That’s cool but I don’t know if it’s real poker.” He then went back to the party while I stayed alone in the office for the next 45 minutes playing out the session.
