NEW: Judge Boasberg grants Fed's motion to quash subpoenas targeting Jerome Powell From the opinion: "There is abundant evidence that the subpoenas’ dominant (if not sole) purpose is to harass and pressure Powell either to yield to the President or to resign and make way for a Fed Chair who will. On the other side of the scale, the Government has offered no evidence whatsoever that Powell committed any crime other than displeasing the President." @MSNOWNews

In today's edition of Washington is Veep: A Democratic congresswoman made a legal complaint against President Donald Trump for, in part, excluding her from an upcoming Kennedy Center board meeting. The invitation, it turned out, was in her spam folder. Aide filed an update today:

“A lot of things need to be held tightly and secure, but openness and transparency allows members of the public to know what their government is doing” said Friedman of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia, who could rule by early next week on whether the Trump administration’s policy violates the First Amendment. ms.now/news/judge-pen…

“Pentagon reporters were known to stake out Jim Mattis, a defense secretary during Trump’s first term, when he picked up his clothes at the in-house dry cleaners and engaged in off-the-record conversations on the walk back to his office.” Interactions like these are not happening since the Pentagon implemented its new restrictive press policy, prompting reporters to hand in their badges. NEW: Lindsey Halligan is under investigation by the Florida Bar Association. The inquiry confirmed by a letter sent to a nonprofit that lodged complaints against her for her conduct as Interim U.S. Attorney for EDVA, specifically her indictments against Letitia James and James Comey. This investigation comes as DOJ continues to appeal her unlawful appointment. (First reported by @Jonesieman and @DevlinBarrett)

NEW: DOJ has reversed course and now intends to appeal, challenging the legality of the law firm executive orders. This about-face comes less than a day after DOJ filed a motion to withdraw its own appeal.
