it’s very funny to see all the people screaming “just pay a living wage!” in the comments bc… that’s what this is for? Americans already tip around this much. you were the ones that were going to go to a foreign country and not follow the cultural norm. tipping culture is not going to be “solved” by tourists refusing to tip, you’re just being an asshole.

A lot worth reading in this excellent piece from Rob, but to me this anecdote tells a lot of the story.
We wanted to post about Project 2025 on Kamala HQ. Others wanted to rename it “Donald Trump's Extreme Agenda” because they thought that would test better in focus groups.
Project 2025 was a real plan with a real name. The instinct to sand down every sharp edge, run everything through a filter, and replace a real thing with a poll-tested substitute is how you end up with tactics but no brand.

@NoahJamesSmith I'd note that this is how almost all competitive games work: there are strongest things, there is a meta.
You can push anti-meta and succeed to varying degrees, but the meta is the meta because it's strong. This is not a problem unique to Pokemon

VGC does not reward being creative and off meta for the sake of being creative and off meta.
Unless you are in the top 10% of teambuilders just use the stuff that is good if you want to win.

@Flats_OW Pokemon is a game where it seems a lot easier when you watch it compared to when you play because the average viewer only considers what happens vs the player who has to consider everything that CAN happen. If it makes you feel better I get tons of backseating comments too

With the first season of Pokemon champions ending and my first month of competitive VGC I think I somehow got worse than when I started.
Pokemon is a hard game. I have so many thoughts but that a tweet can’t do justice but Its probably going to be a bit until I stream it again. Unfortunately unless you’re running hard meta or copying a youtuber team you kinda just get bombarded with “this team sucks because” rhetoric, even if it’s likely my own misplay or knowledge gap.
Anyways I’m going to keep playing! Just in my own time.
