@gomanga I'm a big fan of featuring side characters on the covers, just saying. I don't think there are even enough volumes to feature all the characters I'd like to see in the spotlight XD (because I'm guessing the final volume will be wangxian again)

@seraphicgemrose @gomanga You've never seen the Thai MDZS covers? They're breathtakingly gorgeous, you should look them up. Several of them feature side characters as well.

@AboDammen @qinanyiyu (for example, the novel Mist has a human translation that's locked, and an AI translation that's public. If you looked on NU you'd only see the AI translation, which is. Unfortunate.)

this is the whole guideline for those who are curious btw. I agree with nana on this. it should be within your rights to also give a translation feedback and to get a heads up with how a tl site operates^ I don't think these tidbits make up a whole review so I don't see the use

@robotrabbits and the thing is if they were actually able to prompt an AI to draw EXACTLY what they wanted then presumably they described it in pretty good detail already???

If your words aren’t good enough to convey the image you want, I fear that even a perfect cover image would do precious little for your book.

You’re a writer, use your words.

@FeyreMiari I think if you can create a detailed enough prompt to get the AI to make EXACTLY what you're after you can just ... give that prompt directly to the artist instead ...

artist flat out said they will not work with me because of my reference image being AI. Sorry but like.. how else was I supposed to give you a very detailed image of EXACTLY what I'm after? I'm PAYING YOU for the art! I don't want AI as my cover.. I want genuine ART! 😡2/2

I'm a bit upset.. I completely understand why artist hate AI, and so I do, it's why I commission artists! But I'm writing a book and I needed help from AI to get the thoughts out of my head onto the screen for a cover I have in mind, I used said image for a reference and the 1/2

@cwspider I have noticed that chatgpt really likes bulleted lists, don't know if you're seeing the results of that or the cause

NOBODY KNOWS WHEN TO USE A BULLET LIST VS JUST USING SUBHEADINGS FOR HIERARCHY.

What I thought graphic designers do: aesthetics What they teach me in design school: kerning What I learn/mostly do on the job: this paragraph needs to be a numbered list and these bullet points should just be normal paragraphs with subheadings.
