using that sort of framework, its not obvious to me that 4.1 is the worse choice. it certainly never double-downed on clearly bad information as much as the current models, which presumably is something you care about in a research tool

tbh i would rather chat with 4.1 (or even moreso 4.5) than the current generations. aside from benchmark-maxxing inanities, there's also the question of whether certain dimensions of user experience are actually monotonic with capabilities
