If you know any high achieving Nigerian IMG that just matched and affected by the Visa ban, tell them to reach out. There might be a way out. Emphasis on "Might". As long as the hospital is willing to sponsor you.

Apparently this is an early post. - First, wait to find out the specific hospital you matched into. - Reach out and ask if they are willing to sponsor you for O-1A visa (it is not part of the banned visas). - There's no reason why they can't sponsor you but expect most hospitals to push back because this is a new territory for them (so be ready to pushback too). This is because they are used to H1B and J-1. The O-1A is better than both. - Also, due to expertise in writing the O-1A Petition, expect hospital lawyers to attempt to resist but tell them you can write it yourself and all they have to do is sponsor you and pay the petition filing fees. - This visa has a 93% approval rate. - It does not carry the $100k fee like the H1B. - It doesn't require you to go back to your Home Country like the J-1. - Its a dual intent visa meaning you don't have to prove home ties. In layman terms, the main hurdle is getting the petition approved. Once approved, you visa interview is just a casual conversation. - The Visa is valid for 3 years, and unlike the H1B that you can only renew twice, you can renew this indefinitely. - To qualify, there are 8 criteria and you have to meet 3. There are specific evidence required for each criterion. If you matched, there's a high chance you meet at least 3. - Once you've gotten a go-ahead from the hospital, then you can reach out regarding putting your petition together.

As you step into the new year, understand that God is your source and only source. Choose to trust in him and listen to his instructions. Don't associate with people as a "taker" having hidden expectations on how they should act towards you and when that is not fulfilled, you switch on the person and start becoming passively aggressive towards them. Choose to be a blessing unto others and seek your reward only from God, and you will be amazed at the doors he will open for you in the new year.

Profound… the power of the question “how are you?” And understanding your network can translate to your networth if you know what you’re doing.
