“We have serious concerns about how the recent reforms will operate in-practice. There is significant confusion and concern.” – @WarwickRagg at today’s Senate Inquiry on the continuing-use provisions in the new EPBC laws.
We have evidence from our members that show self-assessment pathways can take up to 70 hours per assessment. Compounding the problem is a shortage of consultants to help and even then, costs are likely to be about $25,000.
We told the Inquiry farmers need:
🟢 Confidence if they follow approved process and tools, they won’t be penalised later.
🟢 Accurate and current mapping, including a simple, clear way to fix errors when they find them.
🟢 Clarity and certainty and we continue to engage in good faith to achieve this.
