FCA's Natalie Collard was pleased to meet with the Hon. Jackie Jarvis, the Minister for Agriculture and Food; Fisheries; Forestry; Small Business; and Mid West this month. It was a great opportunity to talk about the extreme climate conditions driving up costs of farming and the importance of profitability, productivity, people, and planet for Western Australian farmers. At the end of the Farming Forever National Summit, the 300 attendees will be returning back to their hometowns, bringing with them new knowledge on climate smart farming practices, the latest climate science, and ways to make sure their communities benefit from clean energy, large or small. With more than 100 farmers attending, this Summit will help coordinate action in communities and across regions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. This collective advocacy can lead to better extension, more relevant research, and a greater understanding of the vital role farmers play in food security and environmental stewardship. Agriculture is already leading on emission reduction in so many ways, so now is the time for leadership so that regional communities receive all the opportunities and benefits that will come from a sustainable, low-carbon agricultural industry. At Farmers for Climate Action, our goal is making sure Aussie farmers are equipped with practical tools. At the Farming Forever National Summit, the third day (3rd September) is a training and skills workshop, just for farmers. Jo Eady from Rural Scope will be facilitating. Jo lives and works in dairy country, just outside of Foster, in South Gippsland, Victoria. Jo understands the challenges and rewards of agriculture with a special interest in the people side of the sector. She loves helping people find their voice and harness tools to participate in positive change. She is equally at home in the paddock and the board room. Are you a farmer? Come to the three day summit and join the workshop. Tickets available here: events.humanitix.com/farming-foreve…

The Economics of Change: A Geo-Political and Trade View breakout session Join Jon Berry, Associate Director at the Australia Geopolitics Hub (KPMG), at The Economics of Change: A Geo-Political and Trade View breakout session at the Farming Forever National Summit. Australian farmers export 70% of homegrown food and fibre overseas. This affords Australians great food security, but it also makes Aussie farmers vulnerable to geopolitical shifts. This session will unpack how global events and international political relationships directly influence the profitability of Australian farms. As climate change drives overseas trade disruptions, food supply, and input costs, the effects are felt back here on Australia farms. Trade agreements, wars, and geopolitical tensions further affect the price of Australian exports. Jon Berry will be offering crucial insights for strategic planning in a rapidly changing world.

It's time for the numbers. Working day-to-day it can be hard to step back and see the bigger picture. It can be even harder to keep track of the scientific innovations coming out of agricultural research, Cooperative Research Centres, and Australian universities. In this session we will be convening three experts to highlight the data points, surveys, and assessments you can use on the farm to improve your productivity and profitability. Lucinda Corrigan, Director of Rennylea Pastoral, and Matt Dalgleish and Andrew Whitelaw from Episode 3 (ACM Agri) will talk about the trends they are seeing in the data, and what this means for your farm, commodity, and the agricultural sector. Now’s the time for data-driven farming and evidence based climate decisions. Join the session by buying your ticket today: events.humanitix.com/farming-foreve… #farming #climateaction #farmingforever #data #agscience

100+ farmers are coming from across Australia to the Farming Forever National Summit to connect, learn and plan. We are announcing another five farmers who will be attending the Summit this September. So why are these five farmers coming to the Summit? Wayne Chaffey “To learn, to network and to be inspired.” Samantha Craigie “I’m coming to the Summit talk because of the opportunities that exist for diversifying income streams from farmers’ existing natural assets.” Tracie Mathews “I feel I have something to add and also learn with FCA.” Thelma Johnson “I want to see how much I can help to build carbon, produce good health food and find smart ways of reducing energy needs.” Torben Heinzel, NSW "As a cattle farmer I'm passionate about agriculture being a significant part of the solution at a meaningful scale.” Read about the summit here: farmersforclimateaction.org.au/farmingforever… #Farmingforever #Agriculture #Climateaction #Farming

The soil health check farmers are looking for Soil health is front of mind for thousands of farmers across Australia. It underpins every commodity, yet it’s one of the hardest things to get right shaped by complex conditions and plenty of differing opinions. Healthy soils are vital for everyone. According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the world’s soils store more than 2,500 gigatonnes of carbon (over three times the amount in the atmosphere) and soil carbon is an effective method of increasing the natural fertility of soils. This makes soils one of our most powerful natural allies in slowing climate change and increasing agricultural productivity. They also filter water, improve the nutrient density of food, and help farms withstand droughts and floods. On Day 2 of the Farming Forever National Summit, the experts from Soils for Life will lead a conversation on how to build and maintain healthy soils in different Australian climates. Farmers Kate Miriams (Victoria), Martin Royds (NSW), and Julie Ballentine (Queensland) will share practical insights from the paddock. Whether you’re just starting out or have decades of experience, this is your chance to sharpen your soil health strategy. Join us in shaping the future of Australia’s soils. We're celebrating a decade of championing sustainable agriculture and empowering farmers across Australia. 🥳From humble beginnings to 8,400 farmers calling for economy-wide climate policies and decisive pollution reduction, none of this would be possible without the support of the agricultural industry and our farmer members. Always farmer first. We thank all our farmer members, volunteers, supporters and funders along the way. We see you. And we celebrate you. Join us and our board at the Farming Forever National Summit’s Gala dinner. And of course, a few other familiar faces from FCA's early years. Here's to many more years of farming forever! #Farming #Agriculture #Agindustry #Climateaction

Do you know your number? Understanding how to account for carbon on-farm helps informed decision making to reduce pollution and increase productivity. It also helps in preparing for future regulations and meeting growing consumer demand for environmentally responsible produce. Many farmers don’t know where to begin. If this is you, join us on Day 1 of the Farming Forever National Summit as we simplify the path to knowing your environmental footprint. Bobby Miller (Ruminati and farmer), will be leading three experts to talk business on carbon accounting: Felicity Wheelwright, Regenerative Farmer, South East New South Wales, FCA Director Carmel Onions, Executive Manager Agribusiness Sustainability, Commonwealth Bank Australia Dr Lorraine Gordon, Director of Moffat Falls Pastoral Company and Principal of Natural Capital Australia, Climate Friendly Time is ticking to get your ticket: events.humanitix.com/farming-foreve… #FarmingForever #NationalSummit #CountdownIsOn #Agriculture #Climatesmartfarming #Climateaction #Carbonaccounting #Knowyournumber
