My jaw dropped when I read this... Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller says ICE asked the illegals they’ve detained if they were receiving Medicaid. HALF SAID THEY HAD BEEN SIGNED UP. The illegals that don’t have it say they just go to hospitals and it’s always 100% free. "What we found since President Trump came into office is that the Democrats have set up a system to funnel hundreds of billions and ultimately trillions of dollars to migrants that are in our country, oftentimes from places like Somalia. So as an example, ICE recently asked a group of illegal immigrants that were in detention, whether or not they were receiving Medicaid. Half of them raised their hands and volunteered that they were on Medicaid. They also asked how they pay their medical bills, and they said that if they don't have Medicaid, they go to hospitals, they get free care there, and they bill it to the taxpayers. So they aren't paying for any of their own healthcare in this country. — We've seen this over and over and over again."

I grew up in chaos. Emotional chaos and mental chaos. My parents didn't like each other, fights were typical. One of my earliest memories is sitting on the kitchen floor crying and spinning myself around while my parents were screaming at each other in another room. My parents divorced when I was 11 and that started a long saga of being moved back and forth between homes and dealing with my father's live in girlfriends and a variety of step mothers. My dad was married seven times. My stepfather was a control freak and would often keep all of us, my sister and I and his four kids up all hours screaming at us about what we needed to do and why what we were doing wasn't good enough, and on weekends he would often force us to do housework and deep cleaning all weekend. By God's grace, I came to know him in July of 1988 and that began the long road of healing. It took a couple of decades for things to really improve, but one thing that has always been with me once I escaped that chaos was a search for peace. I found that peace in my relationship with Christ. It was a process, often slow, with detours and setbacks, but I have come to a place where He truly is my peace. Living in that peace and choosing to stay away from chaos can sometimes be misunderstood by those who thrive on intensity and constant busyness. I won't do it. I value quietness, peace, and solitude. They replenish my soul. They are where I do my best connecting with Jesus. Psalm 23 is very real to me... He makes me to lie down in green pastures He leads me beside the still Waters He restores my soul He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil but God is with me His rod and staff, they comfort me God has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies He anoints my head with oil and my cup runs over Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever This is where my heart lives, in God's goodness and mercy and the peace He gives that passes all understanding. I love this John Lubbock quote because it captures something I've come to treasure. Some people might look at this kind of quiet life and think it's laziness. It isn't. As Isaiah 30:15 says, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength. The context of that scripture is when Judah was facing the threat of Assyria, and instead of trusting the Lord, they were looking to Egypt for military help. I think sometimes we do something similar and look to ourselves and what we can do to fix or control the circumstances instead of looking to God. Trusting in Him, resting in Him, and looking to Him, that is where true strength is found. To people who are accustomed to constant striving, that kind of quiet trust can look like laziness. But Scripture says otherwise: "In quietness and confidence shall be your strength."

Margo is 91 years old and lives alone in an apartment complex. When the blizzard hit, her neighbor Jaqee Johnson went to check on her. Margo’s apartment was extremely cold and she had been sitting in it at 31 degrees for two days. Realizing why, Jaqee removed the air conditioning from her window, wrapped her in blankets and warmed the apartment with heat from the stovetop and candles. The third day Margo was out of groceries so Jaqee walked to the grocery store. It was a struggle but Jaqee says to see the smile on Margo’s face and the hug she gave her was all worth it. Margo’s niece says her aunt is alive today because of Jaqee and calls her an amazing human. She is forever grateful to her, saying it really is about love...and Jaqee is pure love. My son is a quadriplegic and drives a van that has been specially modified for him. This morning, when he went to drive off, the front driver’s side tire fell off! All the lug nuts came out, and the rim and tire were damaged. It seems someone tried to steal the tire during the night, but because the van is modified, they couldn’t remove it with a regular jack. This type of problem is frustrating for most people, but when you are paralyzed and rely on a wheelchair and a special van, losing the van becomes a huge issue. After calling around, we finally found a towing company that could come quickly with a flatbed truck. Jason from ‘On Time Towing’ in Richmond, VA went above and beyond to help. He had to set up a special system to get the van just high enough on the truck so he could use a jack to remove the damaged tire. Because the van has a lowered floor, this took a while. When Jason saw that the hub assembly wasn’t damaged, he offered to put the spare tire on for my son so the van didn’t have to be towed. It was a very hot and humid day, too! Jason really saved the day for my son. He was able to drive to an important event tonight until he can get the van to the shop on Monday. Thank you, Jason! You’re amazing!
