Testing recipes by @farmocooks: Black-eyed Pea Vada (falafel like fritters) With Tamarind and Green Chutneys; Tandoori Fried Chicken; and Crispy Black-Eyed Pea Chaat. His mom told me the chutney needs to be chopped more but the chaat is “wow...delicious n perfect!” I’ll take it!

my dad brought home a dessert box from a ny wedding he just went to (surreal!!!) i had one of those cute little brooklyn black/white cookies, then a piece of pistachio barfi and half a yellow ladoo. all amazing but the desi sweets were literally almost three times as sweet

Anyway Indian food's ALWAYS controversial. Even if you give a simple Bombay sandwich recipe you'll be told it's Mumbai not Bombay; someone will say bread is colonial; 20 will debate beetroot vs potato; one person will tell you it's not authentic as their grandma added watermelon.
