14 years ago I got a call that changed my life. It went something like, “Hi, Jon Stewart? We LOVE your script!” And I was like… sorry who is this again? Now, I could take this post in a fun direction about the amount of proverbial mail comes my direction thanks to the illustrious Jon Stuart Liebowitz who stole my name before I even got out here 30 years ago and went on to own the comedy news lane forever, but we’ll do that another time. For now, I remain a fan. Although we will arm wrestle for it some day mark my words. But that call, which was indeed intended for this Jon Stewart, came from two managers named Michael Botti and Jess Rosenthal, who would go on to represent my writing partner Eyal and I for well… 14 years and counting. (Jess stepped away to run TV for Dan Fogelman and churned out some of the best entertainment I’ve ever seen in shows like This is Us.). But Botti has been by our side for the duration, our true ride or die. At the same time we joined forces with those cats, we also hooked up with Bryan Besser and his relatively newly formed team at Verve, then something of a renegade rebellious offshoot of Endeavor. Bryan (and eventually Pamela Goldstein and any number of other incredible agents at Verve) took our little Dr. Seuss script (which was the subject of inquiry on that fateful call) and got it to every producer, exec, and development outfit in town and launched a career that has thrived ever since. It was an amazing display of agenting gone incredibly right, and silenced forever any voice in my mind that ever poked “Sure but do you really need an agent?” Last month, we decided to go our separate ways, though we remain good friends (I even became buds with Bryan’s mom after we bonded over fresh roasted coffee—also a story for another post)––I don’t think these things always work out that way in Hollywood. I think that’s very largely because of the brand of integrity and kindness that is unique to Bryan and his team at Verve. But as one chapter draws to a close, you better fucking believe the next door that opens on this journey is going to be one hell of a ride. We could not be prouder nor more excited to be working with Bill Weinstein, Devon Schiff and Michelle Goldfine (and the rest of the squad) at Paradigm Talent Agency––we are off like a rocket on some of the most exciting projects we’ve ever been a part of, in features, TV, and some things that don’t have a category yet… Just wait and see. Here’s hoping that your journey in 2026 is taking a similar tack––let’s go get it together, friends!

@storyshowing @uk_scribe it's an informative Zoom that involves a Q&A. I judge for a Screenwriting competition so will give perspective for what the judging criteria is, what we look for etc. I think it's a "Pros Only" Scribe Lounge event. initial sign-up to the website is free. becoming a Pro = fee.

That said, the Szobo red card means Haaland’s getting three bonus points in fantasy and I rather stupidly captained him this week so….

@rich_pierce12 here in UK you can be a "Library Assistant," without degrees, but to go up the levels you'd have to study to become a Chartered Librarian. #ScriptChat

@farook112 Librarian by day! Throughout my entire writing "career," in fact. A layoff in 2020 (plus COVID) is what led me to write "full-time" for a couple weeks and write the script that finally sold. That's what started the snowball for me. #scriptchat

@zackgutin @jeannevb @StoryTalks360 thank you. I enjoy reading scripts & do so as a competition judge too so I see a lot of newbie scripts in the slush pile. if you're reading newbies, what's a common mistake you see that everyone could benefit learning from? #ScriptChat

@farook112 @jeannevb @StoryTalks360 READ SCRIPTS. Holy moly does screenwriting improve when you read scripts. Wish I had sooner. Not shooting scripts marked for production, get a hold of SOLD scripts for movies that aren’t made yet. Read how strong they are ON THE PAGE, clarity, pacing. So valuable #scriptchat
