Jazz 5G Fast as Lightning Update of the Day - Day 13 ⚡
TOP of the table with a top performance…
A big, comprehensive win against Quetta! There ended up being no dew in the final stretches, but what was truly crucial today was how we executed our plans and won all six phases of the game.
We started incredibly well with the ball in the powerplay, proving that the behind the scenes homework is paying off. A massive amount of credit goes to all the coaches and backroom staff for working tirelessly to get things right. Our captain, Ashton Turner, was brilliant out there. He made some amazing strategic decisions under pressure, particularly making the bold call to bowl Nawaz in the 17th over.
Speaking of Nawaz what a performance. It’s absolutely no surprise he took home Man of the Match. He is such a high quality cricketer and a genuine match winner who is going to continue winning games for us.
Looking at the rest of the squad, Faisal was a +5 in the field today. When you factor those runs saved into his overall figures, he actually had a really solid game. Having a wrist spinner in the arsenal gives us so much balance in the middle overs. I also have to shout out Ismail. Every pacer went for runs today, but for him to come back and bowl a very good over after the tough debut he had shows immense character. We are all so proud of him, and he is going to win us a lot of games in the years to come.
Overall, today was a complete "Total Cricket" performance with the bat, ball, and in the field.
I also want to touch on the foundation of this squad. In terms of our auction picks, a huge amount of credit goes to Tim Paine. Contrary to what some people in the media are saying most of the team selected was his call alongside Hassan Cheema and Usman Munir. He’s one of the best coaches around, and honestly, we are extremely lucky to have convinced him to join us. The previous management had given him a low ball contract offer which made his participation really iffy. Now that we have him, it is an absolute privilege. Alongside Mike Smith and the rest of the coaching staff, they managed to diagnose and solve our problems very quickly, and the players responded phenomenally well.
We are now 40% of the way through the pool stage. Tomorrow is another massive clash against our second-biggest rivals. Please keep us in your prayers for success.
