I am incredibly relieved that our two @forestservice employees are safe and back with their families. Yesterday and into the early morning hours of today, the FBI responded to a hostage situation in Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Redding, CA – where two individuals took two U.S. Forest Service biologists as hostages. FBI Sacramento, including our Crisis Negotiators, SWAT Team, and Evidence Response Team all arrived on scene, including a tactical deployment of our Hostage Rescue Team from Quantico. After nearly 10 hours of negotiations, the hostages were safely released – and subjects Joseph Henrichsen and Phoenix Henrichsen surrendered and were immediately taken into custody. I am proud of the immediate and professional work of these elite FBI teams to assist our partners for a safe and successful resolution.

CASE UPDATE from @FBIAlbany: New Jersey Man Sentenced to 48 Months in Prison for Role in Multi-State Prescription Fraud Ring Bryan Otero, 38, admitted that he worked others to steal the personally identifiable information of Medicaid beneficiaries and use that information to fraudulently obtain prescription medications from pharmacies throughout the Northeastern United States. He further admitted that the conspiracy caused a loss of nearly $4 million to the New York Medicaid program and tens of thousands of dollars to pharmacies. CASE UPDATE from @FBISeattle: Two sentenced in connection with drug trafficking in Seattle’s International District and homeless encampments along I-5 Two Seattle-area men were sentenced for drug and gun crimes related to Seattle’s International District and the homeless encampment on I-5 called “The Jungle.” According to records filed in the case, the investigation began in November 2023, with the Seattle Police, #FBI, and DEA focusing on drug trafficking organizations dealing fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin. This week, Isai Gamboa Pacheco, 56, was sentenced to six years in prison and Sang Tran, 55, as sentenced to 66 months in prison. This investigation is part of the Homeland Security Task Force, a whole-of-government partnership dedicated to eliminating criminal cartels, foreign gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and human smuggling and trafficking rings operating in the United States and abroad. Three individuals have been charged for their alleged roles in a conspiracy to launder more than $3 million from business email compromise fraud schemes targeting companies throughout the U.S. The defendants allegedly used Market Shark LLC to receive and transfer laundered funds.
