@jchensor Respectfully i feel it wont extend the time as much since most of the games are played off stream anyways Tournaments usually stream 4 sets per hour (FT2) 3 sets per hour (FT3) Then the rest you just run offstream till the 9th place match

I would love to see this. Heck, even top 64. But it will extend time and resources for the TOs. You always have to plan for the worst case scenario and if it was extended to top 32, that’s a potential 48 more games played to account for schedule-wise (32 - 8 = 24 more 3 out of 5 matches that can now potentially go 5 - 3 = 2 more games each so 24 * 2 = 48 possible more games). So you have to take that into account for scheduling and — to a much lesser difficulty as there are already plenty of systems — actual resources to play those matches on. Also, there’s always the factor of having less matches shown on stream as a result since 3/5 lasts longer during the phase viewers want to see their favorite players play. You just can’t squeeze as many matches onto the stream. So there will be more eliminations of fan favorites off stream as a result. This can be solved by having two streams and viewers can watch either one, but that’s an entire second streaming crew you have to pay to stream which might be tough to justify. And I’m sure game devs like CapcomFighters would prefer having all viewers on one stream. There’s a lot of logistics to take account for so it’s not JUST as simple as “just do it!” But again, I do personally agree with Mena. I’D like to see more 3/5 in late stages for SF6 for sure. And not because I think any of the results have been “random” as others say, but 3/5 *does* feel better for players in a game where damage can be so high. Having more games for adjustments and adaptation will always feel better. And I never can say no to getting more games to watch between two top players. 😄

I wonder how feasible it would be to have FT2 pools and early tournament stages, but switch to FT3 for top 32. Would make competition so much more stable, deeper layers in the game and doesn’t seem like a lot of time added for the event. It would be amazing.

Not gonna lie, it’s starting to get to the point that the 2X devs should probably give us an update on when to expect the PS5 version of the game to feel close to on par with PC for tourney play. I’m glad the game is cross-platform and can be ran at tourneys with just consoles, but if we go over a year without it getting to a good point then at the BARE MINIMUM any 2XKO Competitive Series Majors should all be ran on PC only. If it’s gonna take some time to resolve, whatever no big deal, just give us a heads up so we can plan ahead 🫡 attending tourneys is too pricey to have your run potentially ruined by laggy setups. Other than that I love watching this game at big tourneys! Can’t wait till we see teamfight in the rotation as well
