Impressed by their critical food safety work: ✅ 5,000+ samples tested yearly ✅ 65 ISO-accredited methods ✅ Key role in national recalls (lead in applesauce, Salmonella in pet food) ✅ Strong @US_FDA-state partnership on FSMA implementation Their expertise in testing baby food, leafy greens, and coordinating rapid response (like WanaBana) exemplifies the vital state-federal collaboration that keeps our food supply safe. Also, great discussion with @NCAgriculture Commissioner Troxler on strengthening our partnership and prevention-focused approaches.

The @US_FDA is launching its BRIDGE Project (Better Regulatory Inspections for Dynamic Government Efficiency) to modernize how routine domestic food facility inspections are planned, conducted, and coordinated. Effective oversight is dependent on strong coordination between FDA and state food safety programs, which together play a central role in protecting public health. Grateful to be in North Carolina today with Commissioner @SteveTroxlerNC and @NCAgriculture to advance this important project.

Yesterday was a momentous occasion for @FDAfood as we celebrated the ribbon cutting of our new Atlanta Human and Animal Food Laboratory. This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in our future and our ability to protect the American food supply. The Atlanta lab is our largest food testing facility, with dedicated professionals who analyze hundreds of samples daily to detect harmful microbial and chemical contamination in domestic and imported foods—from fresh produce to infant formula. This modernized space will enhance our capabilities and support our commitment to the #MAHA agenda.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to participate in a roundtable with the Senate @GOPHELP Committee to continue the important dialogue around @US_FDA's food transformation. I'm grateful for the Committee's vital role and partnership as we work to strengthen the Human Foods Program. Congressional engagement is essential to seizing this generational opportunity to protect American families.
