@fe_emiliani @baym @Shijie_Zhao I mean a good solution for this would be to either increase the corporate tax rate or income tax. That way you could recoup the money back from industry. Cancelling funding seems daft.

Feeling this pretty strongly today, but ultimately my job exists because the American people decided the value of basic science to the nation is worth the cost. If that has changed, then it’s time to go work for the private sector or a different country

@baym @Shijie_Zhao ... keeps more of the profit and reduces the amount given back to the government for reinvestment. A book worth reading to be honest, especially in the context of all that is happening these days.

@rrwick Gave it a shot for cloning plasmids. Incredibly easy to set up/use (found that necat, raven, nextdenovo failed with really small plasmids). But the end results were amazing. Thank you so much for this!

Heads up, the GC and all-context models in dorado v0.8 basecaller are swapped around. Leaving this here as a note for others and for me to reference later in any future reviews or advice.
