If you want a good example of how power works in Britain, just consider how many broadsheet front pages are devoted to the relatively trifling problems of private schools by comparison to the day-to-day and long term problems faced by the state sector (where the vast majority of kids go).

On a typical GCSE history course there is a distinct piece of examinable content around every twenty minutes.

This is good but I think the biggest pressure at GCSE might be that some specs are simply too big and there are more professional penalties for not "finishing" a course than there are for making sure everyone in a class gets it before moving on.

@sew506 I’m currently reading @simonmontefiore Court of the Red Tsar in prep for a new ALevel in Sept, and I’m thinking a board of ‘would I lie to you?’ on key figures? E.g. Stalin was a keen gardener of lemons, true or false!

@ScottforFlorida I’m from the UK we have socialised medicine which has saved my life (and a fortune) does that mean I should not bring my young family to Florida. It’s a pity but if this is a warning to tourists we will take note.
