When global Nigerian companies say they can’t find talent in Nigeria, the issue isn’t the candidates, it’s the hiring process. HR often already knows who will get the job before applications even open; the vacancy is just a formality, and the decision was made at a family or friend’s dinner. Roles get handed to friends and relatives and “my person”, and when they underperform, the blame is shifted to the entire Nigerian talent pool.
