B34R CL4N vs Former Players: Contract Dispute Goes Public
A bitter legal dispute has erupted between African esports organization B34R CL4N and their former Call of Duty Mobile World Championship Stage 5 roster, with both sides issuing competing statements and accusations.
B34R CL4N's Allegations
B34R CL4N announced legal proceedings against their former players on November 17, claiming multiple contract breaches. The organization alleges players failed to return organization-owned devices, refused to honor agreed revenue-sharing terms for Stage 5 prize money, and attempted to obtain funds through misrepresentation of tournament requirements. B34R CL4N stated it exhausted resolution efforts before initiating legal action and formally requested CODM organisers investigate and sanction the players.
Players Fire Back
The former players swiftly released a counter-statement categorically rejecting all allegations. They claim B34R CL4N breached their July 2025 contracts by failing to pay monthly stipends and bonuses for August through October 2025, and not providing promised logistical support, travel allowances, and performance incentives.
On the prize money dispute, players assert that distributions are handled exclusively by Activision and haven't been paid yet, meaning they received no funds from the organization and therefore withheld none. They further claim coach fees and device decisions were made under B34R CL4N's direct instruction.
Counterclaims Filed
The players have formally countered with claims for outstanding salaries and bonuses, unfulfilled benefits, damages for reputational injury, accrued interest, and legal costs. They assert B34R CL4N's publication misrepresents facts and may constitute defamation.
Both parties indicate they will pursue legal remedies through judicial channels. B34R CL4N advised the community to exercise caution when engaging with the players, while the players maintain they upheld all obligations in good faith.
