One of the most horrifying things happening in Gaza right now something the world barely knows about is that we are now trapped inside an area no larger than 133 square kilometers out of Gaza’s original 336 square kilometers. More than two million people are crowded into this tiny, suffocating space, creating one of the highest population densities in the world, literally. But the real catastrophe is not only the lack of space it is that this area itself is no longer fit for human life. Everything around us has become rubble, tents, and destroyed homes. There are no proper schools, no functioning hospitals, no infrastructure, no electricity, and no clean water. People are surviving among destruction, disease, epidemics, hunger, and constant fear. Every single day we wake up to news that more areas have been taken over, and the space we are confined to keeps shrinking further and further, until it feels like we are being slowly pushed toward complete suffocation. Our homes disappeared inside those areas, and until this moment we know nothing about them, as if our entire previous lives have simply been erased. The situation here is becoming more terrifying with every passing day. Children fall asleep to the sounds of bombardment and fear, while families live without any sense of safety or stability. No one knows how long this endless nightmare will continue. What is happening can no longer be endured, and there is an urgent and immediate need for intervention to save more than two million people trapped in conditions no human being should ever have to live through.

@OG_Rebel_ @Tamer_Alnoaizy The endless irony of the crime you assert – “…invading sovereign territory.” – is laughable. As anyone who’s read around this knows, this ‘sovereign territory’ was Palestinian until Arthur Balfour issued the Balfour Declaration in 1917. So, yes, the crimes are Israeli crimes.

@OG_Rebel_ @Tamer_Alnoaizy Again, you’re collecting everyone – regardless of the facts – and collectively punishing them all. A war crime. The horrific numbers of children in Gaza who’ve been murdered… Did they put Hamas in power? Of course they didn’t. And you know that, but their lives matter less.

@Tamer_Alnoaizy And to think, all you had to do was return the hostages and make Hamas surrender. Maybe when you start loving your children more than you hate Israel there can be peace.

This post – by @RabbiMivasair – stopped me in my tracks this evening. We need to speak up. Every single one of us. What is happening in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank is a disgrace and we cannot allow it to pass unchallenged. No more. #Gaza #GazaGenocide
Rabbi David Mivasair@RabbiMivasair

Don’t like people wearing watermelon pins at your shitty medical conference? Don’t care. “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” makes you feel scared? Don’t care. Seeing Palestinian flags on university campuses upsets you? Don’t care. A student calling Israel an apartheid state hurts your little feelings? Don’t care. A doctor speaking publicly about Palestinian children being massacred feels “divisive” to you? Fuck you. People refusing to condemn Palestinian resistance makes you uneasy? Don’t care. Hearing the word “genocide” feels inflammatory to you? Don’t care. A keffiyeh in a workplace gives you a panic attack? Don’t care. “Globalise the intifada” sounds genocidal to you? Don’t care. People interrupting politicians feels disrespectful to you? Don’t care. You no longer being able to monopolise victimhood makes you angry? Truly could not care less. What I care about are the Palestinian children being burned alive. The doctors being tortured. The families erased under rubble. The starvation. The concentration camps. The destruction of Gaza’s hospitals and universities and refugee camps and entire civilian infrastructure. But for the nearly last 1,000 days and decades prior, Western institutions have demanded everyone stop and carefully tend to Jewish emotional discomfort instead. Not Palestinian lives. Not Palestinian suffering. Not Palestinian speech. Zionist discomfort. Zionist fragility. Zionist political sensitivity—elevated, enforced, and institutionalised across universities, hospitals, media outlets, professional associations, politicians, donors, and advocacy groups. All working in sync to transform Zionist discomfort into institutional emergency. While Palestinian suffering is rendered invisible. While Palestinian speech is disciplined. While Palestinian humanity is treated as negotiable. That is the function of the Jewish Feelings Industrial Complex. Not safety. Not care. Not protection. Institutionalised Zionist emotional management at scale. Fuck every single institution that constantly weaponizes “Jewish safety,” “Jewish discomfort,” and “Jewish feelings” to justify censorship, repression, career destruction, anti-Palestinian racism, and silence in the face of mass atrocity. If a watermelon pin destabilises you more than the annihilation of Gaza, the problem is not the watermelon pin. The problem is you. -- from "The Anti-Zionist" patreon.com/posts/awww-you…

One of many reasons Labour are tanking… Labour’s ‘Change’ manifesto: “We will ban the import of hunting trophies.” Labour’s reality: Ministers are quietly giving permits to British hunters to import ‘trophies’ of endangered animals. Do what you promise or lose the votes.

I’m turning 40 soon and noticed some big shifts 1. Success, money, status seem more meaningless 2. Friends, family, compassion are more important than ever 3. Health and happiness more important 3. Zero tolerance for BS and certain types of people

@kylegawley I’ll be 57 this year and I’d add to this: The older I get the more I foreground the things I’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time. This year I’ll be spending time on: • Music × Ableton Live; • Art and Design × p5.js; and • Learning × Obsidian

Today is the Met Gala. Here are some things to keep in mind while engaging in Met Gala discourse: — The Met Gala is a fundraising event that supports the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute. — The Costume Institute preserves historical garments, curates public exhibitions, and educates people on how clothing reflects and shapes culture. — In a political climate when public arts funding is being limited or contested, private fundraising efforts like this are even more important. — Many organizations hold galas to raise money for their missions. This includes organizations focused on the arts, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice, and medical research. The Met is not the only institution that holds galas. — The Met Gala raises money through ticket sales. Major fashion houses such as Gucci often purchase entire tables and invite celebrities to attend the event in their designs. For brands, this functions as a form of marketing, similar to advertising or runway shows. But here, that spending also helps fund a public cultural institution. — Members of the public can later visit the museum and see exhibitions that contextualize fashion as part of cultural history. And their tickets are relatively affordable because they have been subsidized by these fundraisers. — Not all clothing is meant to be practical or "presentable" by conventional standards. Some garments are made as artistic statements. Even if you wouldn’t wear something to the office, you can still appreciate the creativity and technical craft behind it. — Events like this provide work for countless tailors, embroiderers, textile specialists, and artisans. These people often work on other types of cultural productions, such as the costuming for films, theatre, and TV shows. The Met Gala helps sustain these craft industries and thus keeps the production quality high for the areas of culture you care about. — Traditional black tie is never wrong for a gala. In fact, this is how men traditionally dressed for the Met Gala for much of this event's history. Not everyone has the personality to pull off an avant-garde outfit, so they shouldn't be forced into one.

@hyperobsession Thank you, Vee. I find it so frustrating that very few people seem to understand the complex dynamics that underpin this. Jeff Bezos, e.g., is in a position to massively underwrite the Met Gala because his tax affairs are efficient in ways we just couldn’t mirror.

@hannahmariezt @dieworkwear However, as Derek stated, events like this make the museum accessible to the masses. Think about how few museums would exist if not for some rich folks doing a good deed. Where/what does Musk contribute to that helps the average citizen?

Since I started going to snooker with a mobile, I've been terrified of my phone going off inside the arena. I used to take the battery out when that was a thing, now check it about 52 times before a session to make sure it's on silent... I don't get why you wouldn't be like that?

In this image… we are not looking at a passing moment, but at humanity being crushed before the eyes of the world. An elderly man… unarmed, voiceless, holding nothing but a few vegetables to earn his daily bread with dignity. Yet even that dignity was taken from him. Armed soldiers… facing a defenseless man. His belongings fell to the ground—and with them, something far greater fell: Justice… and humanity. Look closely at his trembling hands as he covers his face… Is this something that can be justified? Is this the “security” they speak of? Or is it systematic humiliation… repeated so often it has become routine? The pain here is not measured by the food scattered on the ground… But by the heartbreak poured into this man’s soul. This is not an isolated incident. This is the story of a people humiliated every day— A people expected to endure, to normalize the unbearable, and to remain silent. But silence here is a crime. To everyone watching: Examine your conscience… Do you still feel? Or have we become just another image scrolling past your screen? Gaza… Palestine… are not numbers. They are faces. They are fathers. They are tears waiting to be wiped away. Do not normalize this. Do not justify cruelty. Do not be part of the silence. #Palestine #Gaza #SaveGaza #EndTheSilence #HumanityUnderTest #Trending #Viral #FYP

Labour’s last manifesto had a one word title: Change The lack of transparency around Labour funding sources, in particular significant sums from the Israeli lobby, undermines transparency. It certainly doesn’t look like change.

If Starmer et al are going to limit civil liberties like the right to free expression, they should do so in a spirit of transparency. Acknowledging that the Israeli lobby has given £280,000 to Labour MPs would be a start. Not to mention £50,000 contributed to Starmer.

Banning pro-Palestinian protests – as Starmer is suggesting – only serves to conflate: • legitimate protest about Israel’s actions in Gaza (and now, Lebanon); with • illegitimate, and rightly condemned, antisemitism. Anti-Israel ≠ Anti-Jewishness
