@ilyassoull The most important suggestion i have when it comes to pacing of prose is literally reading the text out loud. Makes it easy to find out how the sentence "feels" and if it really is too long/short.

fic writers, do you have any tips on how to write longer sentences? i feel like my transitions aren't smooth enough so contain lots of comas or ands. this results in my sentences being quite short.

@whimsfully i play it fast and loose with the kudos button, if i read even one chapter and like it, i'll kudos bc like WHY WOULDNT I IT COSTS ME NOTHING and the other person who put so much effort into their work is happy

I really don’t understand withholding kudos from a fic you liked? Kudos is one of the main ways you can support a fic author besides commenting or finding them on social media. I love comments on my works but kudos are a very quick way to say “hi I enjoyed this”.
