Jaemin found fame as the Lead Dancer, Rapper, Vocalist, Visual Genius and Centre of the chart-topping, record-breaking, history-making band #NCTDream, one of the top-selling K-Pop Bands of the Era! Jaemin has been a key member in major NCT Dream releases, including albums like 'Hot Sauce' (2021), 'Glitch Mode' (2022), 'ISTJ' (2023), and 'DREAM()SCAPE' (2024). He is famous for his strong stage presence and visuals, and often praised for his charisma and dance skills, contributing greatly to NCT Dream’s dynamic performances. He’s also a fan favorite for his engaging fan interactions and variety show appearances. His vocal and rap parts, as well as his stage presence, have been highlighted in tracks like "Boom," "Hot Sauce," "Glitch Mode," and "Smoothie." Jaemin was born in Busan, South Korea, and graduated from the School of Performing Arts in Seoul. In 2013 he became a trainee after being discovered at the age of 13 while handing out posters and collecting trash as a volunteer with his mother at an event. In October 2014, he made his first broadcast appearance on Exo 90:2014, a reality TV show starring labelmate Exo. He debuted as the 3rd member of NCT Dream on August 24, 2016, on the digital single, "Chewing Gum". As part of NCT U, Jaemin collaborated with Renjun, Jeno, and Red Velvet’s Yeri for this Trolls soundtrack song, listed among NCT members’ individual activities. This track is one of his notable non-NCT Dream contributions.
Jaemin is a very talented songwriter and has co-written 10 songs for NCT Dream and co-composed 2, demonstrating his creative input including "Dear DREAM" from the 'We Go Up' mini-album (2018), a heartfelt track dedicated to fans, and "Puzzle Piece" from the 'Reload album' (2020).
On March 13, 2019, Jaemin, & NCT Dream members #Jeno & #Jisung, represented K-pop stars at the "K-Wave & Halal Show" in Malaysia, attended by President Moon. In October 2020, Jaemin debuted as a member of #NCTU with the song "Make A Wish (Birthday Song)" on Mnet's music broadcast show M Countdown.
Jaemin is also a TV star and talented actor. In 2018, he joined the cast of tvN's Variety show 'My English Teen 100 Hours'! In 2019 he made his acting debut in the web drama 'How to Hate You', showcasing his versatility beyond music. He won his first Award for Best Actor in 2020 at the Seoul Webfest Awards.
Jaemin has secured several notable brand endorsements including Puma and Skechers which contributed to his estimated multi million dollar net worth. These partnerships involve music sales, global tours, and social media promotions! In 2025 Jaemin became a brand ambassador for IsnTree, a skincare brand due to his knowledge of beauty products, actively promoting the brand by personally reviewing products and sharing tailored skincare advice, earning accolades as a dedicated ambassador.
Jaemin is recognized for his fashion-forward image and has made significant appearances in high-profile fashion campaigns and media! In 2023, he graced the cover of Allure Korea’s November 2023 issue, rocking ZEGNA by Artistic Director, Alessandro Sartori. This cemented his status as a fashion icon among NCT’s 21 members, stunning with his “cute” yet versatile image.
In 2023, Jaemin also collaborated with Tom Ford and famous fashion photographer Adam Katz Sinding for WWD Korea’s 2nd special edition issue. He was featured wearing a classic Tom Ford suit, highlighting his unique style and luxurious visuals!
Jaemin is also a philanthropist, and in 2018 he joined UNICEF Korea Special Representative, Siwon Choi in Vietnam for UNICEF's World Children's Day celebration campaign against school violence. Jaemin volunteered for Ralph Lauren’s Pink Pony campaign, a global initiative to fight cancer by supporting programs that reduce disparities in cancer care. In March 2019, Jaemin attended UNICEF Korea's event "For Every Child" and met Queen Mathilde of Belgium and former President of the International Criminal Court Song Sang-hyun. In May 2019, Jaemin visited children living in slums in Indonesia through the Korean charity 'Good Neighbors'! In 2024, Jaemin donated 100 million KRW ($75,000 USD) to UNICEF Korea via his fan club, “NCTzen Dream.” The funds, raised through his first solo photo exhibition, 'Narcissism: Jaemin First Exhibition' (June 2024), went to support children worldwide facing harsh winters due to conflict and natural disasters. Jaemin’s philanthropy inspired fanbases like JAEMIN BAR (China) to donate 500,000 yuan to the China Youth Development Foundation in 2021, building a primary school in his name. JAEMINNESIA (Indonesia) also organized a 2022 birthday project, “A Constellation of Miracles,” funding scholarships and a clean water pipeline in Sumba, Indonesia. This year, fans celebrated Jaemin's birthday with a UNICEF donation in his name to support Indonesian children.
