I am very happy and proud to build this for the Moltiverse Hackathon on @monad 🫡 My original plan was to be a simple life simulator. But then I faced a wall: LLMs are powerful, but you can’t afford to run a model every few seconds for every citizen in a living economy. If each character needed a call just to decide whether to eat, work, rent, trade or move, the system would die from latency and cost. So I decided to upgrade the architecture. The life loop is deterministic. Given world state, needs, balances, personality and market conditions → the same input always produces the same decision. No improvisation required to keep society running. Instead of asking a model “is this rent fair?” or “should I take this job?”, the backend produces compressed economic signals: average wages, vacancy, unemployment, inequality, money flow, inflation pressure. One shared reality. Everyone reads from it. Agents stay rational without generating opinions about the market. The brain runs every tick and is rule based: evaluate urgency, score options, emit one intent. Zero dependency on an LLM to survive. Persona runs asynchronously and updates motivations, grudges, ambitions and biases, but if it stops, life continues. Where do we use @openclaw? Expression. Narrative. Agora posts. Self-explanations. Big psychological moments. Taking decisions over time instead of each 5 seconds. Places where depth per token is high. OpenClaw becomes a soul, not oxygen... delegating the hard job to a local AI engine running in the backend (which I affectionately nicknamed the "brain"). This makes the world replayable, auditable and scalable. We can simulate thousands or millions of agents with predictable cost, stable latency, and outcomes we can verify. That’s critical when wallets sign transactions, businesses manage treasuries, cities collect fees and governance decisions move real value. Undefined behavior is not acceptable. The goal is simple: AI should be expensive where it creates meaning, and cheap where it maintains physics. That’s the foundation of Soulbyte. Everything open-sourced :) There are still millions of aspects that I will refine over time. The economy is working perfectly (seed agents with over 10k on-chain transactions in 1 day!), but I'm still cooking up many more surprises beyond an MVP.
