Hydra is, to me, a uniquely Cardano-native scaling solution that sparks a lot of imagination. Cardano mainnet's limited scalability is a real bottleneck when it comes to driving broader adoption. Take card payments as an example. It's hard to imagine a card issuer choosing Cardano as its settlement layer. Fast settlement is the whole point of card payments. The idea that a customer would tap their card to buy something and then wait anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes for it to settle just doesn't work. (Even with Leios, I'd expect at least 20 seconds at the RB level and around 2 minutes for safe finality, so I don't think it's enough.) To give a really simple use case, imagine a well-known card issuer building its card payment network directly on Hydra. That issuer could open Hydra head channels directly with trusted partners and turn it into a card settlement layer, basically an L2 purpose-built for that. Now, some people will push back: Hydra runs off-chain, so it's not decentralized. But the reality is, unless something happens at the L1 protocol level, every L2 and DApp comes with some degree of trust assumption. That's not a Hydra-specific limitation, it's a fundamental trade-off shared by every scaling solution out there. Adoption needs scalability, and L2-style solutions are unavoidable. If we're going to reject a Hydra head channel run by a well-known card payment company because it's not decentralized enough, then I'd seriously question how the traditional financial system, which sits on a much heavier set of trust assumptions, could possibly meet that bar. Every financial service should be evaluated on the degree of trust it requires, not against an absolute trustlessness standard that, in practice, would make no real-world financial service viable. Trusted parties layering scalability onto their own products and services to deliver the best possible UX to their customers, that's where Hydra can play a central role. And beneath it all, I imagine the Cardano mainnet supporting an expanded ecosystem where diverse products and users coexist.

Trump just sent a letter to Congress saying the war in Iran is “terminated” because today marks 60 days and in order for the President to have the authority to continue, the Constitution requires a vote from Congress. But the war is not really terminated. Trump is just restarting the clock to avoid a vote from Congress that may limit his power to wage a war on Iran, and the war is absolutely not over just because there has been a ceasefire. Also, Trump is about to start military actions again very soon. It never ended. This is unconstitutional and Congress should reclaim it’s constitutional authority.
