What frustrates me even more is the inconsistency. We’re told VAR is there to clear up obvious errors, to help referees get the big moments right, but somehow we’re still sat here talking about the same kind of mistakes. That tells you something isn’t working. Either the interpretation is off, or the application of the rules just isn’t good enough. You’ve got to give Barcelona some credit because even after that, they showed fight, discipline, and a bit of pride to stay in the game as long as they did. But let’s be clear, they’ve been on the wrong end of a really poor decision there. In games of this magnitude, you need big performances, not big officiating errors, and for me, that red card has completely overshadowed what should’ve been a top quality football match.”
