Orca Slicer has now surpassed 1 million downloads! When I started this project two years ago, I never expected it would become so popular one day. It still feels unreal🤯 Link: tooomm.github.io/github-release… 1.9.0 is the most downloaded version so far, with around 178k downloads.🤯

Went to show @fever_soft some love for all of the work invested into @Orca_Slicer and noticed that the feed was a bit sparse. He's doing an incredible amount of work. If you can, let's show the man some love.

The OrcaSlicer Wiki has a new home: orcaslicer.com/wiki/ From “what does this setting do?” to a repeatable calibration path—this is our shared playbook for turning ideas into great prints. Explore it, bookmark it, and help us improve it. 🚀

@fever_soft Thanks for flagging this, apologies that I was caught out by that. The link has been updated and should be live soon.

@hueforge My friend from China also told me some companies in China “claim” they collaborate/cobrand with OrcaSlicer. I was like “wut?”

Apparently there is some online drama in Chinese 3D Printing spaces about Wocreate8 and HueForge. I want to clear things up - I hope they are successful beyond their kickstarter. I think that their approach is fun an interesting. TL;DR - I have not engaged in any kind of effort to discredit, harass, or start trouble with the Wocreate8 team in any forums, groups, or video distribution channels. Period. To be clear - I have no insight into what is going on in any Chinese HueForge community (aside from second-hand reports I get from concerned users). In fact, despite the size of the country and number of 3D Printers there, I have very low overall sales in China and while I appreciate all of my customers there, they are a pretty small percentage of my users. So rumors that I have funded attack videos on Bilibili or tried to stir up any ill will against Wocreate8 is false. I wouldn't even know how to do that to be honest, and the effort is much better spent on HueForge features and bug fixes. This has all come up because the Wocreate8 team has filed two patents for their software. A step I intentionally did not take, because the concept isn't new (CMYK Lithophanes are very similar) and I don't like software patents in general. They emailed me (it went into Junk so I just replied yesterday when I found it, but only a couple of days after they sent it). They explained that the patents are not aimed at HueForge but are instead aimed at their domestic market competitors. I have asked that we come to a written agreement that this is the case just for clarity sake, and in case of a future buyout where the new management might think differently, but otherwise do not plan to get involved in any kind of patent dispute unless I am forced to. Their email was very friendly, I honestly sympathize with them as a small team trying to prep for a software launch and dealing with a bunch of upset community members instead of being able to focus on the product. I know that a single really bad interaction with a customer can upset me for the whole day, so I can't imagine what they must be feeling. Someone reset the "Days without Drama in 3D Printing" counter and let's move on please.

吐槽新加坡 Prudential 保险,用户 portal 搞了个新版本居然旧版本账号不自动迁移过来,还要用户自己重新注册... 什么草台班子...

After experiencing the decline in quality of Opus 4.5 recently, I finally tried GLM-4.7 and wow, it’s fantastic! My impression so far is that it did a better job than Opus 4.5 for my work. Totally unexpected!

Looks like some malicious actors pretending to be the official orca slicer website have sprung up, be aware folks, only the github link and orcaslicer.com is legit with the holidays and new folks to 3dp coming in, unfortunately some folks may get caught @fever_soft

📣OrcaSlicer repo update I’ve moved OrcaSlicer from my personal GitHub (SoftFever) to an organization account (OrcaSlicer) to make team collaboration easier and unlock better CI resources. The migration should be seamless – existing links still work, and all issues, PRs, and discussions have been transferred. New repo URL: github.com/OrcaSlicer/Orc…

@crystalsssup It's a good and much-needed move. I definitely noticed a clear performance difference when I tried different providers on OR. Since then, I have always stuck to the model’s official providers.

I have been using Codex for a few days, and Codex+GPT-5 is clearly superior to Claude Code+Sonnet/Optus—hands down! I have canceled my Claude Max plan.
