One nation the biggest party for Renters now. It’s almost like that a bunch of politicians with investment property’s don’t understand what it’s like for your rent to go up twice as fast as your wages for 5 years straight

@gav_mck @MarkDiStef Completely wrong. It’s 2 days WFH. Individual agreements are exceptions and need sign off from 5 levels of management including executive level.

@RobertoSatire @SpachusAus Australia escaped the GFC, the crash never happened here. It’s going to be hilarious when it does and over leveraged idiots like you who are the problem get wiped out.

@SpachusAus House prices are still twice what they were at the peak of the GFC. So, the moral of the story is the best time to buy was yesterday, and the second best time is today.

We asked #Grok how people behaved before the 2008 crisis: 👀 "Before the 2008 financial crisis (roughly 2003–mid-2007, with the housing peak around 2006), many people—homebuyers, investors, bankers, and the broader public—exhibited widespread optimism, overconfidence, and risk-taking behavior fueled by a booming housing market, easy credit, and the belief that "this time is different." This created classic bubble dynamics: rising asset prices reinforced expectations of endless gains, encouraging more borrowing and spending. "

@SpachusAus Yes with globalisation, there are literally millions of people dying to move to Australia, with the government printing money. Who doesn’t want to take debt in today’s dollars and pay in 30 years, with inflation alone tripling your house value? (1/2)

@NickyWill100 @Nirgal451 Railings make crowd crushes deadly, like was shown at the 2001 Big Day Out with the death of a young woman.

These “temporary” fences surrounding Darling Harbour are because 34-year-old Irishman Brendan Hickey fell in and drowned in 2014. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.25.

@buddy5thedog @Nirgal451 It obstructs rescues from the water. Obstructs the view of visitors, especially children. It’s temporary and would not have prevented the death of a drunk that very likely would have climbed over it anyway. It was fine without it for 30+ years.

@Nirgal451 And your problem with a fence around a waterway that has thousands of visitors every week including lots of young children is what???

@matt_barrie Scary fact. If you remove excise, legitimate cigarettes are cheaper than black market. Essentially, legitimate tobacco is being driven out of Australia BECAUSE of obscene taxes.

@shockmouths @aidanmolins The graphics and animations would all pre-rendered and optimised to run on minimal hardware. Waste of resources to render the graphics locally billions of times.

For my European followers…public toilets in shopping centres in Australia are free..and almost always clean…no need to pay money to a dame pipi/toilettenfrau/pani toaletowa to keep it clean!

@TerenceMcCart14 I much prefer the euro model. Most council owned public toilets here (not private provided for shoppers) are permanently locked, unless they are in tourist areas then they are maintained with our rates/taxes. Would benefit the employees, the community and tax/rate payers.

I have and do advocate for: - More social housing - Social housing to be allocated towards good tenants - Forced drug rehabilitation - Thieves and violent offenders to be incarcerated I say this as the youngest of 3 sons - both of my older brothers are drug addicts who’ve spent years in and out of various housing situations.

@Tavern_Crawler They do it all day every day here in South Melbourne (a lot of commission housing). Clearly they’re enabled to live this lifestyle on the taxpayer dime while we all have to tolerate it.
