What is with these people? I have lived in NYC for 20 years. I pay a mortgage and NYC taxes and everything. I chair a community board committee. I can assure you I am a real person, and I absolutely give a shit about police corruption, malfeasance, and antisocial behavior.

You are all so pathetic. Real people in this city do not give a shit where the NYPD park, so long as they respond in a timely fashion to their calls and fulfill their public safety function -something none of you have even the foggiest of what that entails. There are real problems facing this city, focus on them or get out of the way of those who are trying to focus on them.

The governor of New Jersey is preparing to spend ten billion dollars right now to ease congestion on the approach to the no-longer-congested congestion zone. Maybe instead of suing New York he should save $9,999,999,900 and just send us a Harry & David gift basket.

We have literally never spent more on NYPD and we’re still getting nothing out of it except a jobs program for people who overwhelmingly do not live in nyc, are not part of the community, and do not pay taxes here.

I rarely saw red-light running in NYC before 2020, especially dangerous red-light running. (And those who know me know I am observing driver behavior a LOT.) For all the chaos on NYC streets, there was a broadly observed norm. The norm is gone. I see it literally every day now.

Didn’t run, didn’t seem to have a weapon, just slowly walked away as he was yelling “BITCH” over and over and cops didn’t even attempt to catch him

In case you’re wondering how useless NYPD is, I just witnessed a clearly mentally unwell man harass a woman for a full minute before slapping her directly in front of 3 cops on the stairs right outside the 59th/Columbus NYPD hub as they ignored her begging them to help

We need to go back to shaming people who are this ridiculous.
There are problems in the subway system but we already throw police at them. It has nothing to do with restrictions on cops who rarely face accountability.

New Yorkers do not feel safe on our subways, despite the nonsense that Gov. Hochul is spouting. We need to prioritize public safety over empty political rhetoric, especially now that Albany is forcing more people into public transportation thanks to their latest congestion pricing tax. More Guardsmen are great for optics, but what we really need to do is untie the hands of the NYPD and let our police officers start doing their jobs again.
