Don’t do it for funsies because you need to do right by your kids. Good parenting requires a lot and it’s very fine if you don’t want to take on that responsibility. Don’t just do it cause you like babies and you want a mini-me. It’s hard work. Good work, but really hard work.

Tbh, I read these 3 books and I finally accepted that a child deserves more patience, emotional availability, and sacrifice than I’m willing to give. That’s why I’ll not be bringing anyone down here. This is also the reason I’m so passionate about people being good parents.

I find it so #fascinating that someone would educate themselves on how to raise a dog before getting one but just go ahead and have kids without thinking similar learning is required to the point they end up applying dog rearing methodologies to their kids.

I will never forget the first time I read All About Love and Bell Hooks said “love and abuse cannot co-exist.” It changed my life. You can’t say you love someone and still abuse them. If love is present, then abuse is absent. Both of them cannot be present at the same time.

I’ll never bring a child into this world if I can’t guarantee that I as an adult, and their first point of radicalization is a well adjusted, deeply principled, respectful kind and honest human. I’ll gentle parent without being permissive, abusive or absent. Gfb I fail them.

As someone who doesn’t want kids, I’m so passionate about children having stable parents, because you’re literally their first contact with the world. If you’re unstable and you lack self control, you should not have kids. Period.

I don’t think an “iron fist” can ever be loving. Also, as a parent, if you hit your kids, it’s because you don’t have the patience and self control to educate them. That’s it.

Also, I don’t think it’s normal for you to think of your unborn child and the first thing you’re fantasizing about is being an “iron fist” mom and not you prioritizing care, support, respect, love and presence. God help all the babies you guys plan to have. They’ll need it.

People don’t realize that raising kids is one of the hardest things you can do as a human being. This is why having children should not be seen as a rite of passage. You should only do it if you’re going to have a lot of empathy, patience and love. That’s why I have opted out.
