RECRUITMENT DETAILS Note: I originally wanted to post this from my English account (@Yasuhiro_UMETSU ), but due to character limits, I’m posting here from my verified Japanese account. Several people kindly DM’d me “Please share more details!”, so here is the full breakdown (long post). I am looking for a freelance 3D artist who can provide estimates for creating cute, Japanese-inspired quadruped animal/mecha giant boss characters for my indie racing game currently in development. Please check points (1)–(6) below, and if you’re still interested, I’d be very grateful if you could DM me. (1) MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS • Required Skills: Proven experience modeling & rigging quadruped animals and/or quadruped mecha creatures. • Target Quality: This is about quality, not style. The goal is characters on par with boss battles from ASTRO BOT or Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Reference videos: youtu.be/IMVDOsDkT0c youtu.be/jkkpvyWbMTk (Note: Both videos coincidentally start with gorilla boss battles, but I am not specifically looking for a gorilla character 😅 Please see (3) CHARACTER OVERVIEW below.) • Game Dev Experience: Proven experience creating and optimizing models for actual in-game use, under strict polycount and texture constraints. • Submission: Portfolio of released quadruped animal or quadruped mecha character models actually used in published games, plus cost & timeline estimate (see (5)). • Budget Premise: The project is still in prototype and pre-funding stage. I have not yet secured or even approached any publisher. Your estimates will help me shape how I present the project and plan its budget in the future. If I later secure funding from an indie publisher, and if timing and schedules align, I will reach out again for formal collaboration. (2) SCOPE OF WORK Since this is an indie project, ideally one artist can handle the entire pipeline: 1.Character Design: Based on my boss battle specs & sketches, create design sheets & 3-view turnarounds 2.3D Modeling 3.Rigging 4.Animation: Running, jumping, attacking, taking damage, dodging, etc. (3) CHARACTER OVERVIEW •Theme: Cyberpunk × Japanese aesthetics, with a cute giant boss character •Motifs: Asian/Japanese-style quadruped animals, mecha bosses, or mythical/fantasy creatures (e.g., Asian-style long dragon or phoenix) •Special Feature: The boss’s limbs and back function as playable course sections, with integrated mechanics such as obstacles, grind rails, and damageable weak points. (4) DELIVERABLES •Final deliverables must be FBX format (including animations and textures), fully compatible with Unity projects targeting Windows •Blender preferred, other software OK if final delivery is FBX •Must respect real-time constraints (poly/texture) •PC target, but optimization for ROG Xbox Ally & Steam Deck is required (5) COST ESTIMATE & PRODUCTION TIMELINE Please provide your rough estimate in this format via DM (assuming (3) CHARACTER OVERVIEW): •Quadruped Animal: $X–$Y per character, around Z months •Bird: $X–$Y per character, around Z months •Mythical Creature (e.g., Asian-style long dragon or phoenix): $X–$Y per character, around Z months •Animal-like Quadruped Mecha Robot: $X–$Y per character, around Z months *This is only for estimation purposes. Final design details and scope will be discussed later. (6) BENEFITS & NOTES • You will be credited in the official game staff roll, and you may list this as a public achievement/portfolio item • You may share WIP on social media (no spoilers, within limits of what I publicly share) • A rare opportunity to contribute to boss design from the early stages of an indie title • If the project is successful, I would like to continue commissioning you for future work as well.
