@mikeastahl Wong Kar Wai never used finished screenplays. His films were far better without them, but that's a mark of his talent. He's far above most filmmakers, which is why his films are still influential today.

Wong Kar-wai showed up to shoot "In the Mood for Love" without a finished script. He improvised with his actors for 15 months. Scenes were shot, discarded, reshot. The ending was not written until he found it in the hours and hours of footage they shot. Most of us will never have the time or money to do this. He did it his way. I prefer to have a map. What's your way?
