THE MEXICAN FOOD ISSUE Why do I keep harping on this Mexican restaurant issue? Because for the majority of Foundational Black Americans - those restaurants are most of the time the point at which we FBA's have regular contact with Latinos. If so many (not all) have these kinds of Ashley Gonzalez-esque views about us - who is to say that some of them are not adding unauthorized "extra ingredients" to your order. And you might be feeding your children (with whatever's in it) out of that order. Ashley Gonzalez should be looked upon as the turning point as to how we are operating within our own community. And I say again - in America, shifting where the money goes is what makes a real difference. Boycotts ain't gonna get it. That's over. Withdrawing our business and replacing where we get our stuff with our own places to get our stuff is what we need to be about. Latinos do have their own places for sure. The other thing: Mexicans in Chicago are hostile to FBA's coming through their neighborhoods. This is also a safety issue. Opportunity Zone!!! Since Mexican food is real popular within our FBA community - Blacks should open their own Mexican restaurants. Use better ingredients. Do a better presentation and do better customer service. Game: Make your menu two thirds the dishes that folks can get from Jose and Maria. And make one third of the menu your own creative twist-ups. I still want to get a plain old regular taco.
