@simpsonaero With regard to milk, the SFA in whole dairy doesn’t seem to have the same effect on LDL as butter
English

@finally_matt Everything you just mentioned is saturated fat. . .
English

@MAMB5U563 I could’ve worded the post more clearly, but the SFA in whole dairy doesn’t seem to have the same effect on LDL as butter
English

@LookingAtYouM8 @ThyroidDriven What makes you say that LDL is protective against disease?
English

@finally_matt @ThyroidDriven LDL and Cholesterol are both protective against disease.
saturated fats are the healthiest fats

It’ll take a while, but I’m going to have to dig through the fatty acid research myself to feel satisfied. I’m open to PUFA being good for you and SFA being bad for you, I have no horse in this race.
English

@noahsmidhle @ThyroidDriven There’s also some nuance with how SFAs in whole dairy (milk, cheese, yogurt, kefir) impact LDL compared to butter & cream
English

@finally_matt @ThyroidDriven its about long chain saturated fats not all of them
English

@iheartcromwell @hamzaiandafirst I could be mistaken, but I think the argument that omega 6s are a uniquely inflammatory PUFA comes from the idea that LA is a pre-cursor to AA. But — and this is just what I’ve heard and haven’t looked into myself — the conversion is tightly regulated in humans so that…
English

@paige_eden Dr. Chris Masterjohn seems to believe that we require a little bit of AA and DHA, but ideally wouldn’t get much more PUFA than that.
English

@finally_matt I feel like we probably need a little bit of PUFA which is why our body stores it since we can’t make it, but the amount of PUFA we eat is way more than ever in history and that’s probably bad.
English

@finally_matt Keep me posted dude. I've found the evidence around SFA increasing LPS to be convincing. Not sure pufa maxxing is convincing either..low fat (under .3g per lb per say) is convincing..
English

@hamzaiandafirst Do you have an explanation for why you think omega 6s are worse than omega 3s?
English

@finally_matt They displace omega 6 and omega 6 is significantly worse than omega 3
English

@hamzaiandafirst Well, omega 3s are a type of PUFA. So I’m not really sure what you mean when you say that they more aggressively displace PUFA.
English

@finally_matt From what I’ve read omega 3 can be good for you in the same way that MUFA is, by more aggressively displacing pufa than SFA. olive oil and palm kernel oil seem the way to do that best, not fish oil. MUFA is also effective at lowering HDL for this reason along with Lauric acid.
English

@finally_matt I'm also really curious about this bro
For example there has to be some truth in omega 3s beng anti inflammatory
But idk abt SFA, what in them could be bad?
English

@texugodum3l I know, you just gave me an excuse to express some things I’ve been thinking about
English

@finally_matt It was just a joke, and investigation is more appropriate than simply accepting it.
There have been quite a few times when I’ve seen recommendations just because he said so (without even considering the context)
English

@texugodum3l I used to fit more into the archetype of a person who gets a kick out of being anti-mainstream, and I think that made it easier for me to trust conspiracies before being shown sufficient evidence. As I’ve gotten more into digging through science myself, I’ve drifted away from
