Major indices on the ZSE traded in the green on Tuesday, helped by gains in blue chips CBZ and Delta.The VFEX All Share Index lost a further 3.10 points or 1.38% to 222.17 .

The ZSE Top 10 faltered in Monday trades as other major indices on the ZSE extended gains. Meanwhile, the VFEX see-sawed back into the red on losses in several counters.

ZSE continued to close in the positive on the last day of the month of April as well as ahead of the Workers’ Day holiday tomorrow. Market breadth firmed up, with 14 counters recording gains against 4 that traded negatively.

Heavily weighted indices on the ZSE recovered in Monday trades helped by gains in blue chips BAT, CBZ and Delta. Meanwhile, the VFEX continued to trade on the downside.

Zimbabwe’s doctors and pharmacists should stop mistaking lobbying for reform. If nearly 90% of Zimbabweans have no medical aid, the medical fraternity has a far better weapon than prohibition: form a mutual or health cooperative fund, pool modest monthly contributions from households, churches, SMEs and workers, then contract doctors, clinics and pharmacies in the cooperative on transparent tariffs, generic medicines and primary-care packages. Spain’s Espriu Foundation and America’s Kaiser Permanente both show, in different ways, how providers and patients can be aligned through cooperative or integrated health-financing models. If the existing medical aid system is so flawed, build a better one. Destroying it will not send patients rushing to private doctors; it will send them out of formal healthcare altogether.

Major indices on the ZSE extended gains in Thursday trades. Meanwhile, the VFEX faltered as the market’s daily turnover surged to US$50.17 mln bolstered by significant volumes in Padenga.

The ZSE Medium Cap Index firmed up in Tuesday trades, while other indices on the ZSE and VFEX faltered.

ZSE’s indices closed in the positive on Monday helped by gains in heavyweights CBZ and Delta. Meanwhile, the VFEX continued to trade in the positive.

Indices on the ZSE closed mixed in Thursday trades while the VFEX traded in the negative on losses in a number of counters.
