I wanted to update you on an epic battle being played out over multiple days, between man and beast, at the end of a nearby street. I will attempt to identify when I am using speculation and when I am using fact. I warn you that some of this information isn’t pretty. I assume a skunk tried to cross the street. I assume this skunk was hit by a car. I know the skunk was in two pieces. One piece consisting of approximately 25 percent of the skunk, the other consisting of the remaining 75 percent. Next drive by: I know the smaller piece was no longer operational in any meaningful biological sense. But the larger piece was now gone. I assume it had been picked up by a bird of prey. Next drive by: I assume the bird of prey came back for the smaller piece. Why? The smaller piece of skunk was still there, now lying beside a bird, which had also apparently been hit by a car. Next drive-by: only the bird remains. Skunk pieces all gone. Full bird still there. How would this even happen? Next drive-by: now the bird is gone. Where did it go? Removed by humans? Another bird—cannibalism? Or was it eaten by a skunk? Why a skunk? Next drive-by: everything is gone except... a full skunk. It has also apparently been hit by a car. Assuming this was this a new skunk? Or was it the same skunk, Humpty Dumptied back together? Or, did I enter a tear in the space time contiuum, and this is actually the original skunk? Is this going to start all over and repeat again and again like Groundhog Day? I will continue to report any future developments to maintain the historical record. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
