"when there is clarity to see things exactly as they are - not romantically, emotionally, with prejudice, with what you would liked it to be, but to see things absolutely as they are in daily life brings about an extraordinary quality of clarity. And when there's clarity theres no need for exercise of will or choice. Someone can live in daily life without any kind of will, choice and resistance." - J.D. Krishnamurthi

Sports feel like the one place where outcomes are actually earned. Clear rules, shared field, visible effort and first is first. But the race doesn't start at the starting line. It starts years earlier, in who got access to coaching, nutrition, facilities, and time. This week's Almanac is on why sporting meritocracy is a partial truth and why partial truths are the most convincing kind. 🔗Link below!

@amrnth0 The corresponding cli can be identified when running a bash command and env variables can be patched in only for those commands.

Is it only me or there's no way to prevent secrets getting leaked in the scenario when OpenClaw needs to run a CLI command which requires a secret? Like, running the CLI in a sandbox would need the env var to be present there, which means an agent can execute a function which could end up reading the env var. @steipete

The cost of making things has collapsed. You can generate something polished almost instantly. And yet, a lot of it feels interchangeable. The constraint isn’t execution anymore. It’s judgment.🎯 This week’s Almanac explores why taste, the ability to decide what to keep, cut, and refine is becoming the new moat. Link below🔗

🚨MUESLI LAUNCH ALERT🚨 renting out speech to text to the cloud never made sense both for dictation and meeting transcriptions! in the last week, I've been building muesli that can drop in replace Granola and Wisprflow with all STT done all locally on your mac - its free and OSS
kuldeep@ku1deep

Unsubscribed to Granola. To me the value is in the raw transcript. I extract specific quotes from them for further work. In any case tools like Granola are I/O peripherals of the new age. I don’t want a subscription attached to them. This is an OS feature honestly.

But thats the beauty about AI, it doesn’t need heavy distributed infrastructure (routers) to distribute like water or electricity or internet. So technically theres no need for routers, packaging with data plans is a distribution strategy not a dependency. And if it is realised as necessary, you don’t need these distribution strategies also.

@findingnische Local players will act as "routers" for intelligence. Intelligence will be as necessary as wifi, and will be packaged with the data plans which people pay monthly. The models used may be Anthropic, openai, Sarvam etc.

Every idle moment is now a problem to be solved, a gap to be filled before some uncomfortable feeling slips in. But the idle mind was never broken. It was processing, connecting, wandering somewhere useful. 🧬 A new Almanac newsletter on what boredom actually was, what the neuroscience says it was doing for us, and what we've sort of lost by replacing it with an infinite scroll and a dopamine drip. AI in warfare is often discussed as a future problem. In practice it has been arriving piece by piece. First as tools to analyze intelligence, then systems that recommend targets, and now software embedded directly in the pace of military operations. ⚔️ The recent Iran strikes and the Pentagon’s fallout with Anthropic revealed how central these systems have already become. This week’s Almanac looks at how AI moved from experiment to infrastructure on the battlefield. 🔗Link below!
