@BillV0207 @authordlewis Increase road and petrol tax?! How about ring-fencing existing revenue and spending it on the roads? Radical, I know.

@authordlewis Make drivers pay for the damage they do. Increase road and petrol tax so that non-car users are not subsidising the repair to this damage. More 20mph speed limits in urban areas and heavier road tax on larger vehicles.

Eight hour drive thru France yesterday - not a pothole to be seen. Like driving on air. How are Britain’s roads so appalling, by contrast? Any suggestions?

St Thomas Aquinas teaches us that the body adjusts itself to the operations of the soul. In a culture that normalises vice, we have cultivated a generation whose passions have become disordered, and this disorder manifests spiritually, psychologically, and even physically. While trauma and neurological conditions are real and significant, the habituation of vice is one of the – often ignored – causes of the exponential rise in psychological instability which inevitably leads to a culture suffering from both existential nihilism and existential dread. Modern man looks for temporal solutions to spiritual problems.

They encourage you to put money in a bank where you’re losing purchasing power daily. Try to offset that by flipping a few shitcoins and suddenly they’re your greatest protector? The system has always been rigged, they’re just blocking the exits so the plebs can’t access anything remotely decentralised.

@finisloquitur It's so stupid. I had to close my bybit and kucoin account because they got banned. Binance also had some restrictions even before this for my country. Now I am just dealing with dexes mostly and waiting until those get banned too

Many countries already banned Kucoin, Bybit and many others and I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to ban Kraken and Coinbase and then focus on attacking major dex providers. I swear the level of authoritarianism is getting tiresome

This is a brilliant investigation. It shows what many of us knew. Hostile states are supporting both Islamist & far right causes in order to divide us. If you are echoing those narratives you are aiding & abeting a hostile state. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@CeeMacBee Britain has plenty of weapons. You can find them all in Parliament when MP’s salary, pensions and expenses are up for debate.

Sorry @JuliaHB1, I just don't agree. "Just get a job" isn't an answer when you're living in your car. Lifting 450,000 kids out of poverty is something to be proud of.

now and then I look at Andy Burnham and think oh whatever, it can't possibly get any worse only then to remember that if he does depose Keith he'll probably make Ed Miliband Chancellor of the Exchequer

@Keir_Starmer Where are the sanctions on US/Israel for their unprovoked attack on Iran? You can’t even keep rubber boats from landing on the South Coast, how would you cope with the Russian Navy? Pathetic little man.

What have you ever built? Parasites like you have been stealing from taxpayers for years and look at the state of the West? Is Musk accountable for that? $150bn is a drop in the ocean compared to all the money governments have printed, yet you have still managed to destroy once-great societies. Crawl back under your rock, bottom-feeder.

Elon Musk has become a trillionaire. If we confiscated just 15% of his wealth we could: clean up all the oceans, eliminate poverty, and literally make the world into a utopia. Instead he chooses to indulge in his phallic obsession with rockets and wants to build data centers in space. You cant even move electricity from space to earth. Dumbest idea ever. All the best, Wolfgang

This might be difficult for you to understand, but this is a reference to one bye-election and stopping Burnham becoming PM. Nothing more. Lowe talks about restoring Britain but is actively working to help Burnham win this seat, thereby enabling him to become PM and double-down on Labour’s draconian policies. He is a worse version of Blair/Starmer.

@finisloquitur @Sargon_of_Akkad @ReformDurham Oh golly, the exact MPs who have buggered us into a black hole of misery will DEFINITELY fix everything this time, right? This time will surely be different if we elect a party of proven rats. Listen to yourself.

The coping and seething that Reform folds to the slightest competition is the real embarrassment. You have no energy, no vision, and a party leader who keeps getting pictured with his head in his hands. Worst of all, you did this to yourselves. You don't get to decide if we engage in politics or not, and when you are losing because of it, you don't get to whine like an entitled baby that we didn't vote for you. No more fell for it again awards. No more stabs in the back from the literal ministers of the Boriswave. No more bitch politics from insecure party leaders lying to the cops and smearing peoples' reputations. We have had enough of business as usual. No excuses. No surrender.
Cllr Andrew Husband / Reform Leader Durham@ReformDurham

Good work Tory agent @RupertLowe10 This will be on you. 8% of nothing with a candidate who has done nowt and doesn’t deserve to be elected. Embarrassing

This isn’t about the next government, and you know it. This is about Burnham becoming the next PM and Restore is enabling it. You sat out the local elections; you should have sat out this one, too. I’d take a Reform MP in Makerfield all day long over the alternative. If Lowe and Farage remain so fixated on this battle of egos then the war is already lost.

You’re part of a government who outsource all of the above to cronies from the sub-continent. The UK entrepreneurs who could deliver it are being chased out of the country by one of your colleague’s draconian taxes, and the other’s Net Zero lunacy. Typical gobshite MP; you’re a liar and a fraud.

The next war won't be won by armies, navies or air forces alone. It'll be won by the country whose 19 year olds can code, whose factories can build drones in weeks not years, and whose grid stays on when someone tries to switch it off. Industry. Society. Economy. That's the fight now. We're not ready. And we're not being honest about what getting ready will cost.
