@wrestlingbypir8 @SpeyWrestle It would depend on if ESPN was onboard with the change. It probably would not help if it moved into April as it would run into MLB, playoff runs in the NBA and NHL and the Draft. Two weeks earlier might pop as that is a dead time in sports.

@SpeyWrestle Absolutely not. A lot more people will see it on ESPN/2/U on its current weekend than on ESPN+ on another weekend.

If the NCAA Wrestling Championships were moved to a weekend where March Madness was NOT taking place, would TV viewership INCREASE? Please vote, very important poll.

@MatScouts1 It should be treated like a pin where you can’t review it. It ended the match and the sequence wasn’t allowed to play out.

The Duke-Robideau sequence/call had absolutely nothing to do with reaction time and everything to do with bad mechanics, incompetence, and nonsensical assessment. Everyone needs to stop saying 'reaction time' b/c you don't know wtf you're talking about.
Glory cowboy!@gowrigsankar

@MatScouts1 Reaction time strikes again. That was no take down according to refs who knows it all.

@wrestlingnomad Where did you find that they changed QWs to count duplicates? Also, have you seen the RPI or CR (besides on wrestlestat)?

alternatively, under the old rules of Coaches Rank 15% and Conference Finish 10%, Taylor doesn't tie Rozynski and Shapiro, he beats both of them. But that's not the rules we have anymore

@wrestlingnomad Winning % over everyone (10), splits HTH and Common with everyone (17.5), QW (5) Conference (7.5 except for RW/AS) -- That's 40. Expect CR to be top 6/7 and RPI top 10. Ferrari, no RPI, so wins that. Beat Mantanona.

@JustinJBasch @BrianSwaw Based on the limited rumors that have escaped, Coaches Ranking is not a 5-0 category but a 3-2 one. Plus, the 15 point differential is not based on the head to head matchup but the cumulative total of all 13 matchups.

@BrianSwaw Yeah, I'm not sure. I wish they'd release the points. I believe Byrd/Davino are within 15 of each other, but neither are within 15 of Blaze.

Let's clarify and correct my thought process: 1. No head-to-head matchup: Points are equal. 2. Common opponents with both having no losses: Points are equal. 3. Conference dual record: Points are equal. 4. RPI: Blaze +10 points. 5. Quality matches: Blaze +10 points. 6. Coaches' ranking: Byrd +5 points. 7. Conference allocations: Points are equal. Based on this, Byrd is within 15 points unless I'm completely confused about how the points are awarded, which is possible since it hasn't been transparent.

@MatScouts1 I suspect it might have been known but likely not understood as it would be applied. I doubt anyone understood that if you wrestled every match but the other team sent backups, you would be treated as if you ducked the matches. Further, the math does not seem to work.

I'm split on this. While the math churned out some things that look nonsensical, the formula was known last summer. Go earn what you need to earn. If you don't have 15 matches over a 4 month season wtf are we even doing? That's a you problem. This formula, at least in theory, will make guys wrestle more next season. Let's be honest, the regular season is a freakin shell of itself compared to 15 years ago.
Sockobuw@sockobuw

Is the big ten smart enough to completely scrap the new criteria and adjust? Pushing for athletes to wrestle conference duals and get a record against the field is great in theory, turned out to be a disaster in practice.

@MatScouts1 Do you know which categories can be split? I think you said Coaches would be split 3/2 if both ranked. What about HTH vs. field? The "math" doesn't seem to work. How is Bailey the 4 when he is 1-3 vs. the field and 1-2 in BIg10 duals? Ragusin, Clark and Davis all better records.

I get the outrage and eye-rolling over the B1G seeds, but with the formula they use, it actually isn't that surprising. The math is the math. Some guys (Cannon/Ferrari) don't check the boxes of like 3 categories. They are already starting with only about 60-70% of possible pts

@wrestlingnomad You could limit several of those to conference only -- conference winning %, conference QWs and common opps. HtH is by definition within conference.

@fink26 I am generally ok with that but also pretty old school in that "only conference matches should count"

Again, good intentions, but have to account for weight. Haines beating Pinto is the trump card. If PSU and Nebraska didn't hit this year I would have zero issues with this methodology as the tiebreaker, but it can't supersede the H2H
Jon Kozak@KozakJon

I think I figured out why Levi Haines is the #2. Haines wrestled 4 "back-ups" during the Big Ten dual season: Gabe Arnold Orlando Cruz TJ Schierl Jordan Champan So he likely loses in two categories - H2H vs Field (25 points) and Common Opponents Record (25 points).

@FantasyD1Wrestl Lots of problems. Ignored head to head matchups, appears to have given points to person with most wins vs. the field as opposed to person with best winning percentage against the field. Formula is flawed.

The Big Ten PreSeeds are pretty good. Obviously 174 switch Minto and Haines, but other than that, I don’t see a problem.

@CPyles8 They give no credit for HTH -- instead wrestlers are punished if others ducked you. Haines wrestled all 8 duals but did not get Kharchla or Kennedy, so Minto gets to HTH in duals despite going 6-6 in duals vs. Haines at 8-0.

Kozak pointed out the obvious flaws in the Big Ten seeding process. There are 3 very redundant criteria. Also, RPI is given too much weight. We were asked if we liked the machines picking the seeds over human's. There's no question competent humans trump algorithms or equations.
