One of the hardest parts of parenting is that when something awful happens, there's no time to wallow. Want to be sad? Do it silently at the playground. You get 1-2 hours to wallow while they nap, then you get to be sad at the pool in a bathing suit that doesn't even fit

Beginning a new draft that needs tons of edits and rewrites is a slow process. All day today, I managed to get 1 insight and 1 plot point. Not for want of trying, mind you. Here’s hoping things get better from here on. Send coffee. Or wine. Or both. Casks of them. Now please.

@bhvide I'm only able to listen to audiobooks for fun now, and only when I'm doing chores or running 🥲 I gaze wistfully at the books I keep purchasing on my shelves!

How do you all with young kids find time to read?? I had a little time before bedtime once, but they're doing the "nah we don't need sleep" thing rn and I am once again struggling Cannot WAIT until my older kid learns to read! She loves her books!
