Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI.
We have a team of 72 artists of which 23 are concept artists and we are hiring more. The art they create is original and I’m very proud of what they do.
I was asked explicitly about concept art and our use of Gen AI. I answered that we use it to explore things. I didn’t say we use it to develop concept art. The artists do that. And they are indeed world class artists.
We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books. At the very early ideation stages we use it as a rough outline for composition which we replace with original concept art. There is no comparison.

We've hired creatives for their talent, not for their ability to do what a machine suggests, but they can experiment with these tools to make their lives easier.

Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on his impressive election victory! I recall our great meeting with President Trump back in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine. I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength” approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together. We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. Attention - Images difficiles de l'agonie de "Sweet girl", cette jeune baleine à bosse percutée de plein fouet par une saloperie de chauffard des mers à Tahiti le 8 octobre dernier. La vidéo est à regarder avec le son pour entendre les vocalises de détresse. Sweet Girl est morte noyée après une agonie de plusieurs heures.
Les données de MarineTraffic indiquent que les bateaux (ferrys notamment) sortaient du port à 30 noeuds !!! Alors que la limitation est à 5 noeuds et qu'on est en pleine saison des baleines !! Une honte absolue. @SeaShepherdFran et l'association locale @matatohora déposent plainte et demandent l'ouverture d'une enquête. On mettra tout en oeuvre pour identifier et faire condamner les criminels qui ont fait ça. Nous lançons en parallèle un appel à témoins. STOP A l'IMPUNITÉ !!

Both operators used the term "human-assisted" to create a more favorable impression, which suggests they were instructed to use that term. However, since the questions were specifically about remote control, it’s clear that the answer was yes. Tesla is just trying to put their best foot forward by using the term "human-assisted" instead of "remote-controlled," which is typical of the company.

Why should I force someone to rotoscope a shot frame by frame, when we can train a model to do it?
Why should I force a matte painter to go hunting for clean pixels when we can train an inpainting model for them?
I'm not advocating for replacement of artists. It's happening a bit now with speech.
For me... if a client thinks that all they need is to type up a script and get an MP3, they're not gonna be the kind of client that values the very human input of a true voiceover *artist*.
I'm looking to be hired by clients who value my creative input, and as a director I'm looking to hire artists whose creative input I value.
If those artists choose to employ ethical generative AI tools in their workflows, I think we should all be for it.
Because (from experience as a former rotoscope artist / VFX compositor), one of the alternatives is what happened here:

@MysteryGuitarM None of those things require being trained on their catalog, Joe. Furthermore, directors and actors didn't consent to this type of usage, it's a way to avoid paying people, nothing more. You of all people know better.

@jadel4w I’ve been to gdc last year, and what I can tell u from my own observations, they’re not interested in creative part of gamedev at all. It’s not about making games, it’s about making money by scamming investors into crypto and blockchain. I expected more.

My GDC talk was rejected ☠️
Guess I’ll try again next year but they don’t give feedback on why it was rejected so I don’t know if it’s even worth proposing the same thing twice.
If I can’t find a platform for this content I guess I need to cover it in a series of videos or something.
