Some already do but this is often done predatorily. Advanced safety features like left-behind detection are often paywalled behind higher spec car variants, forcing consumers to buy up for such features. Laws should be tightened to augment existing baseline safety requirements.

A two-year-old boy was found dead after being left in a car for about nine hours, reportedly because his mother forgot to drop him off at a babysitter before work. The 35-year-old mother only realised her son was still in the car at around 5 pm, after finishing work. Seremban police have arrested the mother to assist in an investigation into child neglect, and the child’s body was sent to Rembau Hospital for an autopsy.

Just to give you an idea of how dehumanising the treatment of the 202 individuals arrested on Friday was: they had no meals except for a piece of bread, no water, no sleep for 24 hours, and no idea what was happening. Confidential videos of them spread online for mockery
