Nietzsche wasn't a philosopher, he was a pre-platonic sage and a neo-maenad.

I'm uninterested in the idea of being in control of our history, history made transparent. It's dangerous to the extent that it obscures the real impulses working within us. It's more important to learn to know or intuit what forces we are going to surrender ourselves to.

@SamCope42809520 The problem is that there aren't few men who consider themselves enlightened or having ascended, and yet behave in the most capricious and arbitrary ways. I'm a perspectivist. Whatever the "form of the good" is, it's up for grabs.

@fire_mnemosyne Plato says the entities outside the cave seem unreal to you at first but if you keep going you make it to the Form of the Good. Passing through radical nihilism, anti-realism, etc. before negating your way through to the Good is a very natural dialectic to take.

The phenomenon of philosophers who begin radical, counterintuitive, controversial, cutting edge, and end up as cowards obsessed with normativity must be studied.

time to read another introduction to quantum physics so that I grasp it for approximately one week to then immediately forget what happened, reset cognitively, and do it again next year (annual tradition)

We all act surprised when something goes wrong, we act like things shouldn’t go wrong at all and that we should be medicated if they do

The remainder is strong enough to inscribe its power, or powerlessness, in language and symbols. But this is only a fragment of the story. There are a variety of impulsive configurations establishing different interfaces.

I do want to hold on to this view: Reason (through consciousness) is an interface of the impulses, not their subduer. Whatever seems excessive about reason is not native to reason itself, and it's often a residue of a greater power that lost momentum in the sick animal.
