This is awful. People have asked why Pride and LGBTQ+ month still need marking - they’ll always be a minority and sadly, it appears, will always need the allyship of those of us willing to stand up for all. Progress is not permanent and always needs underpinning.

Sewage discharges into the River Roding and Cran Brook must stop. It's time to clean up our rivers! Today I, @paulpowlesland and @Jcblackman attended a very productive meeting in Parliament, hosted by @Jas_Athwal. Let's continue working to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Today, I summoned @thameswater and @EnvAgency to Parliament, for questioning about the awful sewage dumping in Ilford's waterways. I was also joined by Barking MP @Nesil_Caliskan, local activists such as @paulpowlesland, @riverroding and Thames21, and Redbridge Councillors. For far too long, our local waterways have been allowed to deteriorate into an incredibly dire state. The River Roding is now the second most polluted river in London - second only to the Thames. We need urgent action, accountability, and a plan from Thames Water and the Environment Agency to clean them up.

Yesterday we walked for Zara Aleena. 4 years since she was tragically murdered. She was just walking home. Her aunt asked us to walk yesterday not in anger, but in hope that things change. 🚶‍♀️ We walked her route 📢 We said her name 🤍 Never forgotten United against male violence.

Domestic abuse rises whether England loses or wins at football. Tackling that shouldn’t depend on the score line but the seriousness with which we take violence against women and ending the culture of misogyny that enables it. With views like this Reform continue to show they are part of the problem not the solution.

This week we’ve seen positive steps towards prostate cancer screening. Sadly, Reform have chosen divisive race-baiting in response. I asked the Prime Minister to oppose Reform’s nonsense and stand with the men and their families at greatest risk from this terrible disease. 👇

Injustice. In the decade after treatment existed, 16 million people died of AIDS—12 million in Africa. That’s twice as many people who had died before treatment was developed. Access to medicines wasn’t blocked by science. It was blocked by unfair laws and monopoly that placed profit over people. This was a failure of politics.
